| 101:3 وماادراك ماالقارعة |

| Transliteration | Wama adraka ma alqariAAatu |
| Literal | And what made you know/informed you what the resurrection/disaster/calamity (is)? |
| |

| Yusuf Ali | And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is? |
| Pickthal | Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Calamity is! |
| Arberry | And what shall teach thee what is the Clatterer? |
| Shakir | And what will make you comprehend what the terrible calamity is? |
| Sarwar | Would that you knew what the crash is! |
| Khalifa | KHALIFA:Do you have any idea what the Shocker is? |
| Hilali/Khan | And what will make you know what the striking (Hour) is? |
| H/K/Saheeh | And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity? |
| Malik | And what will explain to you what the Qariah is?[3] |
| QXP | Ah, What will convey to you what it is, the Catastrophe! |
| Maulana Ali | And what will make thee know how terrible is the calamity? |

| 101:4 يوم يكون الناس كالفراش المبثوث |

| Transliteration | Yawma yakoonu alnnasu kaalfarashi almabthoothi |
| Literal | A day/time the people be/become like the butterflies, the scattered/ravished |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | (It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about, |
| Pickthal | A day wherein mankind will be as thickly-scattered moths |
| Arberry | The day that men shall be like scattered moths, |
| Shakir | The day on which men shall be as scattered moths, |
| Sarwar | On that day, people will be like scattered moths |
| Khalifa | That is the day when the people come out like swarms of butterflies. |
| Hilali/Khan | It is a Day whereon mankind will be like moths scattered about, |
| H/K/Saheeh | It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed, |

| 101:5 وتكون الجبال كالعهن المنفوش |

| Transliteration | Watakoonu aljibalu kaalAAihni almanfooshi |
| Literal | And the mountains be/become like the wool/dyed wool, the carded (ruffled). |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | And the mountains will be like carded wool. |
| Pickthal | And the mountains will become as carded wool. |
| Arberry | and the mountains shall be like plucked wool-tufts. |
| Shakir | And the mountains shall be as loosened wool. |
| Sarwar | and mountains will be like carded wool. |
| Khalifa | The mountains will be like fluffy wool. |
| Hilali/Khan | And the mountains will be like carded wool, |

| 101:6 فاما من ثقلت موازينه |
| |
|
| Transliteration | Faamma man thaqulat mawazeenuhu |
| Literal | So as for who his weights became heavy. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy, |
| Pickthal | Then, as for him whose scales are heavy (with good works), |
| Arberry | Then he whose deeds weigh heavy in the Balance |
| Shakir | Then as for him whose measure of good deeds is heavy, |
| Sarwar | Those whose good deeds will weigh heavier (on the scale) |
| Khalifa | As for him whose weights are heavy. |
| Hilali/Khan | Then as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be heavy, |
| H/K/Saheeh | Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds], |
| Malik | On that Day, he whose scale of good deeds is heavy,[6] |

| 101:7 فهو في عيشة راضية |

| Transliteration | Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin radiyatin |
| Literal | So he is in (an) acceptable/approved life/quality of life. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction. |
| Pickthal | He will live a pleasant life. |
| Arberry | shall inherit a pleasing life, |
| Shakir | He shall live a pleasant life. |
| Sarwar | will live a pleasant life, |
| Khalifa | He will lead a happy (eternal) life. |
| Hilali/Khan | He will live a pleasant life (in Paradise). |
| H/K/Saheeh | He will be in a pleasant life. |
| Malik | shall live a pleasant luxurious life.[7] |

| 101:8 واما من خفت موازينه |
| |
|
| Transliteration | Waamma man khaffat mawazeenuhu |
| Literal | And but who his weights were reduced/lightened. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light,- |
| Pickthal | But as for him whose scales are light, |
| Arberry | but he whose deeds weigh light in the Balance |
| Shakir | And as for him whose measure of good deeds is light, |
| Sarwar | but those whose good deeds will be lighter (on the scale). |
| Khalifa | As for him whose weights are light. |

| Literal | So his origin (is) Hell/destruction . |

| Yusuf Ali | Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit. |
| Pickthal | A bereft and Hungry One will be his mother, |
| Arberry | shall plunge in the womb of the Pit. |
| Shakir | His abode shall be the abyss. |
| Sarwar | will have hawiyah as their dwelling. |
| Khalifa | His destiny is lowly. |
| Hilali/Khan | He will have his home in Hawiyah (pit, i.e. Hell). |
| H/K/Saheeh | His refuge will be an abyss. |
| Malik | shall abode in Haviah;[9] |
| QXP | He will be embraced by an Abyss. |
| Maulana Ali | The abyss is a mother to him. |
