103:1 سورة العصر بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ والعصر

LiteralAnd/by the time/era/end of day to dusk .

Yusuf AliBy (the Token of) Time (through the ages),
PickthalBy the declining day,
Arberry By the afternoon!
ShakirI swear by the time,
SarwarBy the time (of the advent of Islam),
KhalifaBy the afternoon.
Hilali/KhanBy Al-Asr (the time).
H/K/SaheehBy time,
MalikBy the time through the ages![1]
QXPTime that flies and has flown, bears witness.
Maulana AliBy the time!
Free MindsBy time.
Qaribullah By the time of the afternoon!

103:2 ان الانسان لفي خسر


TransliterationInna al-insana lafee khusrin
LiteralThat truly the human/mankind (is) in (E) loss.

Yusuf AliVerily Man is in loss,
PickthalLo! man is a state of loss,
Arberry Surely Man is in the way of loss,
ShakirMost surely man is in loss,
Sarwarthe human being is doomed to suffer loss,
KhalifaThe human being is utterly lost.
Hilali/KhanVerily! Man is in loss,
H/K/SaheehIndeed, mankind is in loss,
MalikSurely mankind is in loss,[2]
QXPThat man is, and has been, in a state of loss.
Maulana AliSurely man is in loss,
Free MindsThe human is indeed in loss.
Qaribullah Surely, the human is in a (state of) loss,

George Saleverily man employeth himself in that which will prove of loss:
JM RodwellVerily, man's lot is cast amid destruction,

al-`Asr 103:003

103:3 الا الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات وتواصوا بالحق وتواصوا بالصبر


TransliterationIlla allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati watawasaw bialhaqqi watawasaw bialssabri
LiteralExcept those who believed and made/did the correct/righteous deeds, and directed/commanded with the truth/just , and directed/commanded with the patience.

Yusuf AliExcept such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.
PickthalSave those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance.
Arberry save those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and counsel each other unto the truth, and counsel each other to be steadfast.
ShakirExcept those who believe and do good, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patience.
Sarwarexcept the righteously striving believers who exhort each other to truthful purposes and to patience.
KhalifaExcept those who believe and lead a righteous life, and exhort one another to uphold the truth, and exhort one another to be steadfast.
Hilali/KhanExcept those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Maroof )which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar )which Allah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allahs Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad, etc.).
H/K/SaheehExcept for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
Malikexcept those who believe and do good deeds; exhort one another to the truth and exhort one another to patience.[3]
QXPExcept those who have chosen to be graced with belief, do works that help others and exemplify Truth and exemplify perseverance.
Maulana AliExcept those who believe and do good, and exhort one another to Truth, and exhort one another to patience.
Free MindsExcept those who believe, do good works, support one another with the truth, and support one another with perseverance.
Qaribullah except those who believe and do good works and charge one another with the truth and charge one another with patience.

George SaleExcept those who believe, and do that which is right; and who mutually recommend the truth, and mutually recommend perseverance unto each other.
JM RodwellSave those who believe and do the things which be right, and enjoin truth and enjoin stedfastness on each other.

Asadunless he be of those 2 who attain to faith, and do good works, and enjoin upon one another the keeping to truth, and enjoin upon one another patience in adversity.
