| 103:2 ان الانسان لفي خسر |

| Transliteration | Inna al-insana lafee khusrin |
| Literal | That truly the human/mankind (is) in (E) loss. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Verily Man is in loss, |
| Pickthal | Lo! man is a state of loss, |
| Arberry | Surely Man is in the way of loss, |
| Shakir | Most surely man is in loss, |
| Sarwar | the human being is doomed to suffer loss, |
| Khalifa | The human being is utterly lost. |
| Hilali/Khan | Verily! Man is in loss, |

| 103:3 الا الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات وتواصوا بالحق وتواصوا بالصبر |

| Transliteration | Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati watawasaw bialhaqqi watawasaw bialssabri |
| Literal | Except those who believed and made/did the correct/righteous deeds, and directed/commanded with the truth/just , and directed/commanded with the patience. |

| Yusuf Ali | Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy. |
| Pickthal | Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance. |
| Arberry | save those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and counsel each other unto the truth, and counsel each other to be steadfast. |
| Shakir | Except those who believe and do good, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patience. |
