7:95 ثم بدلنا مكان السيئة الحسنة حتى عفوا وقالوا قد مس اباءنا الضراء والسراء فاخذناهم بغتة وهم لايشعرون


TransliterationThumma baddalna makana alssayyi-ati alhasanata hatta AAafaw waqaloo qad massa abaana alddarrao waalssarrao faakhathnahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona
LiteralThen We exchanged/substituted (in) place/position (of) the sin/crime the good/goodness, until they cure/forgave/pardoned, and they said: "The calamity/disastrous distress and the prosperity had touched our fathers." So We took/punished them suddenly/unexpectedly, and (while) they are not feeling/knowing/sensing.

Yusuf AliThen We changed their suffering into prosperity, until they grew and multiplied, and began to say: "Our fathers (too) were touched by suffering and affluence" ... Behold! We called them to account of a sudden, while they realised not (their peril).
PickthalThen changed We the evil plight for good till they grew affluent and said: Tribulation and distress did touch our fathers. Then We seized them unawares, when they perceived not.
Arberry then We gave them in the place of evil good, till they multiplied, and said, 'Hardship and happiness visited our fathers.' So We seized them suddenly, unawares.
ShakirThen We gave them good in the place of evil until they became many and said: Distress and happiness did indeed befall our fathers. Then We took them by surprise while they did not perceive.
SarwarWe then replaced their misfortune with well-being until they were relieved and began saying, "Our fathers had also experienced good and bad days." Suddenly, We struck them (with torment) while they were all unaware (of what was happening).
KhalifaThen we substituted peace and prosperity in place of that hardship. But alas, they turned heedless and said, "It was our parents who experienced that hardship before prosperity." Consequently, we punished them suddenly when they least expected.
Hilali/KhanThen We changed the evil for the good, until they increased in number and in wealth, and said: "Our fathers were touched with evil (loss of health and calamities) and with good (prosperity, etc.)." So We seized them of a sudden while they were unaware.
H/K/SaheehThen We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive.
MalikThen We changed their adversity into good fortune till they became very affluent and said: "Our forefathers also had their adversity and affluence." Behold! We took them by surprise while they did not even notice it.[95]
QXPThen We changed their plight for good till they became affluent. Then they said, "(Hardships and prosperity are just a matter of chance). Even our parents and forefathers have gone through these ups and downs." Our Requital seized them when they least expected it. (To them it appeared sudden, but unjust systems insidiously move towards the consequences).
Maulana AliThen We changed the evil for the good, till they became affluent and said: Distress and happiness did indeed touch our fathers. So We took them by surprise while they perceived not.
Free MindsThen We replace the bad with good, until they have plenty, then they Say: "Our fathers were the ones afflicted by hardship, and adversity." We then take them suddenly, while they are unaware.
Qaribullah Then We changed evil for good, until they multiplied and said: 'Our fathers were indeed touched by misfortune and adversity. ' So We seized them suddenly while they were unaware.

George SaleThen we gave them in exchange good in lieu of evil, until they abounded, and said, adversity and prosperity formerly happened unto our fathers, as unto us. Therefore we took vengeance on them suddenly, and they perceived it not before-hand.
JM RodwellThen changed we their ill for good, until they waxed wealthy, and said, "Of old did troubles and blessings befall our fathers:" therefore did we seize upon them suddenly when they were unaware.

Asadthen We transformed the affliction into ease of life, so that they throve and said [to themselves], "Misfortune and hardship befell our forefathers as AL-A'RAF SCRAH well" -whereupon We took them to task, all of a sudden, without their being aware [of what was coming].
