81:1 سورة التكوير بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ اذا الشمس كورت


TransliterationItha alshshamsu kuwwirat
LiteralWhen/if the sun's light rolled/rotated .

Yusuf AliWhen the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;
PickthalWhen the sun is overthrown,
Arberry When the sun shall be darkened,
ShakirWhen the sun is covered,
Sarwar(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining,
KhalifaWhen the sun is rolled.
Hilali/KhanWhen the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown ).
H/K/SaheehWhen the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
Malik81 AT-TAKWIR - EXTINGUISHED In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful., When the sun will cease to shine;[1]

at-Takwir 081:002

81:2 واذا النجوم انكدرت


TransliterationWa-itha alnnujoomu inkadarat
LiteralAnd when/if the stars/planets became dispersed/dulled .

Yusuf AliWhen the stars fall, losing their lustre;
PickthalAnd when the stars fall,
Arberry when the stars shall be thrown down,
ShakirAnd when the stars darken,
Sarwarthe stars are made to fade away,
KhalifaThe stars are crashed into each other.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the stars shall fall;
H/K/SaheehAnd when the stars fall, dispersing,
Malikwhen the stars will loose their luster;[2]
QXPAnd when the stars lose their glow. (Tribal dictatorships fall).
Maulana AliAnd when the stars are dust-coloured,

Qaribullah when the stars are thrown down,

at-Takwir 081:003

81:3 واذا الجبال سيرت


TransliterationWa-itha aljibalu suyyirat
LiteralAnd when/if the mountains were made to move .

Yusuf AliWhen the mountains vanish (like a mirage);
PickthalAnd when the hills are moved,
Arberry when the mountains shall be set moving,
ShakirAnd when the mountains are made to pass away,
Sarwarthe mountains are scattered about as dust,
KhalifaThe mountains are wiped out.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the mountains shall made to pass away;
H/K/SaheehAnd when the mountains are removed
Malikwhen the mountains will be blown away;[3]
QXPAnd when the mountains are moved (The 'great ones' lose their stronghold (20:105), (56:5), (78:20)).

at-Takwir 081:004

81:4 واذا العشار عطلت


TransliterationWa-itha alAAisharu AAuttilat
LiteralAnd when/if the female camels and other livestock over ten months pregnant were abandoned/left unsupervised (miscarried) .

Yusuf AliWhen the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended;
PickthalAnd when the camels big with young are abandoned,
Arberry when the pregnant camels shall be neglected,
ShakirAnd when the camels are left untended,
Sarwarthe young barren camels are abandoned,
KhalifaThe reproduction is halted.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected;
H/K/SaheehAnd when full-term she-camels are neglected
Malikwhen the ten-month pregnant she-camels will be left unattended;[4]
QXPAnd when the she-camels, ten months with the young, are abandoned. (A she-camel about to deliver the young has been a precious commodity, but the means of transportation will change).

at-Takwir 081:005

81:5 واذا الوحوش حشرت


TransliterationWa-itha alwuhooshu hushirat
LiteralAnd when/if the wild beasts were gathered.

Yusuf AliWhen the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations);
PickthalAnd when the wild beasts are herded together,
Arberry when the savage beasts shall be mustered,
ShakirAnd when the wild animals are made to go forth,
Sarwarthe wild beasts are herded together,
KhalifaThe beasts are summoned.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the wild beasts shall be gathered together;
H/K/SaheehAnd when the wild beasts are gathered
Malikwhen the wild beasts will be brought together;[5]
QXPAnd when the wild beasts are herded together. (The nomads and even the cannibals civilize and lead an organized collective life).
Maulana AliAnd when the wild animals are gathered together,

Qaribullah when the savage beasts are gathered

at-Takwir 081:006

81:6 واذا البحار سجرت


TransliterationWa-itha albiharu sujjirat
LiteralAnd when/if the seas/oceans filled and over flowed.

Yusuf AliWhen the oceans boil over with a swell;
PickthalAnd when the seas rise,
Arberry when the seas shall be set boiling,
ShakirAnd when the seas are set on fire,
Sarwarthe oceans are brought to a boil,
KhalifaThe oceans are set aflame.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow;
H/K/SaheehAnd when the seas are filled with flame
Malikwhen the oceans will be set ablaze;[6]
QXPAnd when the seas bustle with ships.
Maulana AliAnd when the cities are made to swell,
Free MindsAnd when the seas are made to boil.
Qaribullah when the seas are set boiling,

George Saleand when the seas shall boil;
JM RodwellAnd when the seas shall boil,

at-Takwir 081:007

81:7 واذا النفوس زوجت


TransliterationWa-itha alnnufoosu zuwwijat
LiteralAnd when/if the selves were made in pairs/couples .

Yusuf AliWhen the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like);
PickthalAnd when souls are reunited,
Arberry when the souls shall be coupled,
ShakirAnd when souls are united,
Sarwarsouls are reunited with their bodies,
KhalifaThe souls are restored to their bodies.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the souls shall be joined with their bodies;
H/K/SaheehAnd when the souls are paired
Malikwhen the souls will be reunited with the bodies;[7]
QXPAnd when the people intermingle. (The world becomes a smaller place).
Maulana AliAnd when men are united,
Free MindsAnd when the souls are paired.
Qaribullah when the souls are coupled (to their body),

George Saleand when the souls shall be joined again to their bodies;
JM RodwellAnd when souls shall be paired with their bodies,

Asadand when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds],



at-Takwir 081:008

81:8 واذا الموؤودة سئلت


TransliterationWa-itha almawoodatu su-ilat
LiteralAnd when/if the buried alive was asked/questioned:

Yusuf AliWhen the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned -
PickthalAnd when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked
Arberry when the buried infant shall be asked
ShakirAnd when the female infant buried alive is asked
Sarwarquestions are asked about the baby girls buried alive,.
KhalifaThe girl who was buried alive is asked:
Hilali/KhanAnd when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned.
H/K/SaheehAnd when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
Malikwhen the infant girls buried alive (here reference is made to the Pre-Islamic Arab custom of burying new born girls alive) will be questioned[8]
QXPAnd when the little girl that was buried alive is made to ask -

at-Takwir 081:009

81:9 باي ذنب قتلت


TransliterationBi-ayyi thanbin qutilat
LiteralWith (because of) which crime it was killed?

Yusuf AliFor what crime she was killed;
PickthalFor what sin she was slain,
Arberry for what sin she was slain,
ShakirFor what sin she was killed,
Sarwarsuch as, "For what crime were they murdered?"
KhalifaFor what crime was she killed?
Hilali/KhanFor what sin she was killed?

Malikfor what sin she was killed;[9]

81:10 واذا الصحف نشرت


TransliterationWa-itha alssuhufu nushirat
LiteralAnd when/if the written pages (scriptures) were spread/publicized .

Yusuf AliWhen the scrolls are laid open;
PickthalAnd when the pages are laid open,
Arberry when the scrolls shall be unrolled,
ShakirAnd when the books are spread,
Sarwarthe records of deeds are made public,
KhalifaThe records are made known.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open;
H/K/SaheehAnd when the pages are made public
Malikwhen the record will be laid open;[10]
QXPAnd when the papers are published widely.
Maulana AliAnd when the books are spread,
Free MindsAnd when the records are displayed.
Qaribullah when the scrolls are unrolled,

George Saleand when the books shall be laid open;

at-Takwir 081:011

81:11 واذا السماء كشطت


TransliterationWa-itha alssamao kushitat
LiteralAnd when/if the sky/space was skimmed/scraped off/uncovered.

Yusuf AliWhen the world on High is unveiled;
PickthalAnd when the sky is torn away,
Arberry when heaven shall be stripped off;
ShakirAnd when the heaven has its covering removed,
Sarwarthe heavens are unveiled,
KhalifaThe heaven is removed.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place;
H/K/SaheehAnd when the sky is stripped away
Malikwhen the heaven will be stripped bare;[11]
QXPAnd when the sky is unveiled. (The Space sciences advance).
Maulana AliAnd when the heaven has its covering removed,

Qaribullah when heaven is stripped,

George Saleand when the heaven shall be removed;

at-Takwir 081:012

81:12 واذا الجحيم سعرت


TransliterationWa-itha aljaheemu suAAAAirat
LiteralAnd when/if the Hell was ignited/blazed .

Yusuf AliWhen the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat;
PickthalAnd when hell is lighted,
Arberry when Hell shall be set blazing,
ShakirAnd when the hell is kindled up,
Sarwarhell is made to blaze,
KhalifaHell is ignited.
Hilali/KhanAnd when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze.
H/K/SaheehAnd when Hellfire is set ablaze
Malikwhen hell will be set to blaze,[12]
QXPAnd when the Blazing Fire is ignited. (The guilty are swiftly apprehended).
Maulana AliAnd when hell is kindled,

George Saleand when hell shall burn fiercely;
JM RodwellAnd when Hell shall be made to blaze,

Asadand when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright,



at-Takwir 081:013

81:13 واذا الجنة ازلفت


TransliterationWa-itha aljannatu ozlifat
LiteralAnd when/if the Paradise was advanced/brought near.

Yusuf AliAnd when the Garden is brought near;-
PickthalAnd when the Garden is brought nigh,
Arberry when Paradise shall be brought nigh,
ShakirAnd when the garden is brought nigh,
Sarwarand Paradise is brought near,
KhalifaParadise is presented.
Hilali/KhanAnd when Paradise shall be brought near,
H/K/SaheehAnd when Paradise is brought near,
Malikand when the paradise will be brought near:[13]
QXPAnd when the Paradise is brought near. (A glimpse of it on the earth).

81:14 علمت نفس مااحضرت


TransliterationAAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat
LiteralA self knew what it presented/brought.

Yusuf Ali(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward.
Pickthal(Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready.
Arberry then shall a soul know what it has produced.
ShakirEvery soul shall (then) know what it has prepared.
Sarwarthen every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds.
KhalifaEvery soul will know everything it brought.
Hilali/Khan(Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).
H/K/SaheehA soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].
Malikthen each soul shall know what it has bought with it.[14]
QXP(Then) every person will see what he has prepared.
Maulana AliEvery soul will know what it has prepared.
Free MindsEvery soul will know what it had done!
Qaribullah then, each soul shall know what it has produced.

George SaleEvery soul shall know what it hath wrought.

Asad[on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself].



at-Takwir 081:015

81:15 فلا اقسم بالخنس


TransliterationFala oqsimu bialkhunnasi
LiteralSo I do not swear/make oath by the planets .

Yusuf AliSo verily I call to witness the planets - that recede,
PickthalOh, but I call to witness the planets,
Arberry No! I swear by the slinkers,
ShakirBut nay! I swear by the stars,
SarwarI do not need to swear by the orbiting
KhalifaI solemnly swear by the galaxies.
Hilali/KhanSo verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night).
H/K/SaheehSo I swear by the retreating stars
MalikBut no! I swear by the retreating stars;[15]
QXPOh, but I call to witness the revolving planets.
Maulana AliNay, I call to witness the stars,
Free MindsSo, I swear by the receding stars.
Qaribullah Rather, I swear by the returning

George SaleVerily I swear by the stars which are retrograde,
JM RodwellIt needs not that I swear by the stars of retrograde motions

at-Takwir 081:016

81:16 الجوار الكنس


TransliterationAljawari alkunnasi
LiteralThe flowing/orbiting , the orbiting/sweeping planets/stars.

Yusuf AliGo straight, or hide;
PickthalThe stars which rise and set,
Arberry the runners, the sinkers,
ShakirThat run their course (and) hide themselves,
Sarwarstars which are visible during the night
KhalifaPrecisely running in their orbits.
Hilali/KhanAnd by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves,
H/K/SaheehThose that run [their courses] and disappear
Malikthat run their course and hide;[16]
QXPThe stars which rise and set in their orbits.
Maulana AliRunning their course, (and) setting,
Free MindsTheir orbits swept away.
Qaribullah orbiting, disappearing;

George Salewhich move swiftly, and which hide themselves;
JM RodwellWhich move swiftly and hide themselves away,

Asadthe planets that run their course and set,



at-Takwir 081:017

81:17 والليل اذا عسعس


TransliterationWaallayli itha AAasAAasa
LiteralAnd the night when/if (it) passed/lightened .

Yusuf AliAnd the Night as it dissipates;
PickthalAnd the close of night,
Arberry by the night swarming,
ShakirAnd the night when it departs,
Sarwarand sit during the day, or by the darkening night
KhalifaBy the night as it falls.
Hilali/KhanAnd by the night as it departs;
H/K/SaheehAnd by the night as it closes in
Malikby the night as it dissipates;[17]
QXPAnd the Night as it slowly closes upon.
Maulana AliAnd the night when it departs.
Free MindsAnd the night when it passes.
Qaribullah by the night when it approaches

George Saleand by the night, when it cometh on;
JM RodwellAnd by the night when it cometh darkening on,

at-Takwir 081:018

81:18 والصبح اذا تنفس


TransliterationWaalssubhi itha tanaffasa
LiteralAnd the morning/daybreak when/if (it) breathed in or out (began).

Yusuf AliAnd the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;-
PickthalAnd the breath of morning
Arberry by the dawn sighing,
ShakirAnd the morning when it brightens,
Sarwarand brightening morning,
KhalifaAnd the morn as it breathes.
Hilali/KhanAnd by the dawn as it brightens;
H/K/SaheehAnd by the dawn when it breathes
Malikby the morning when it breaths again:[18]
QXPAnd the fresh breath of the morning.
Maulana AliAnd the morning when it brightens,

George Saleand by the morning, when it appeareth;

at-Takwir 081:019

81:19 انه لقول رسول كريم


TransliterationInnahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin
LiteralThat it truly is an honored/generous messenger's word/statement/declaration (E).

Yusuf AliVerily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,
PickthalThat this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger,
Arberry truly this is the word of a noble Messenger
ShakirMost surely it is the Word of an honored messenger,
Sarwarthat the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger
KhalifaThis is the utterance of an honorable messenger.
Hilali/KhanVerily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger (Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)).
H/K/Saheeh[That] indeed, the Qurâ an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger
Maliksurely this word (The Qur’an) is brought by a noble Messenger (Gabriel),[19]
QXPBehold, this indeed is the revealed Word in the dialect of a noble Messenger (69:40).
Maulana AliSurely it is the word of a bountiful Messenger,
Free MindsIt is the saying of an honourable messenger.
Qaribullah it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger,

George Salethat these are the words of an honourable messenger,
JM RodwellThat this is the word of an illustrious Messenger,

Asadbehold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle,



at-Takwir 081:020

81:20 ذي قوة عند ذي العرش مكين


TransliterationThee quwwatin AAinda thee alAAarshi makeenin
Literal(Owner) of power at (owner) of the throne highly positioned/distinguished .

Yusuf AliEndued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne,
PickthalMighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne,
Arberry having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure,
ShakirThe processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion,
Sarwarwho is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne,
KhalifaAuthorized by the Possessor of the Throne, fully supported.
Hilali/KhanOwner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne,
H/K/Saheeh[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
Malikpossessor of mighty power, having very high rank with the Owner of the Throne (Allah),[20]
QXPStrengthened by Him Who is enthroned in His Almightiness of Supreme Control.
Maulana AliThe possessor of strength, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne,

Qaribullah of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne

George Saleendued with strengeth, of established dignity in the sight of the possessor of the throne,
JM RodwellEndued with power, having influence with the Lord of the Throne,

Asadwith strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned



at-Takwir 081:021

81:21 مطاع ثم امين


TransliterationMutaAAin thamma ameenin
LiteralObeyed there at the same time or place, faithful/loyal .

Yusuf AliWith authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.
Pickthal(One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy;
Arberry obeyed, moreover trusty.
ShakirOne (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust.
Sarwarobeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust.
KhalifaHe shall be obeyed and trusted.
Hilali/KhanObeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens).
H/K/SaheehObeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.
Malikwho is obeyed in heaven, and is trustworthy.[21]
QXP(The Messenger is) to be obeyed and trusted.
Maulana AliOne (to be) obeyed, and faithful.

at-Takwir 081:022

81:22 وماصاحبكم بمجنون


TransliterationWama sahibukum bimajnoonin
LiteralAnd your companion/friend is not with mad/insane.

Yusuf AliAnd (O people!) your companion is not one possessed;
PickthalAnd your comrade is not mad.
Arberry Your companion is not possessed;
ShakirAnd your companion is not gone mad.
SarwarYour companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness
KhalifaYour friend (Rashad) is not crazy.
Hilali/KhanAnd (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman;
H/K/SaheehAnd your companion is not [at all] mad.
MalikO people of Mecca! Your companion has not gone mad;[22]
QXPFor, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman.
Maulana AliAnd your companion is not mad.
Free MindsAnd your friend is not crazy.
Qaribullah Your Companion is not mad,

George SaleAnd your companion Mohammed is not distracted.
JM RodwellAnd your compatriot is not one possessed by djinn;

AsadFor, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman:



at-Takwir 081:023

81:23 ولقد راه بالافق المبين


TransliterationWalaqad raahu bialofuqi almubeeni
LiteralAnd he/He had seen/understood him/Him at the horizon/direction, the clear/evident .

Yusuf AliAnd without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon.
PickthalSurely he beheld Him on the clear horizon.
Arberry he truly saw him on the clear horizon;
ShakirAnd of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon.
SarwarHe certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form
KhalifaHe saw him at the high horizon.
Hilali/KhanAnd indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him (Jibrael (Gabriel)) in the clear horizon (towards the east).
H/K/SaheehAnd he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon.
Malikhe (Muhammad) indeed saw him (Gabriel) in the clear horizon[23]
QXPAnd, indeed, he has found Wisdom at its highest horizon. (53:1-7).
Maulana AliAnd truly he saw himself on the clear horizon.
Free MindsAnd he saw him by the clear horizon.
Qaribullah in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon,

Asadhe truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon;



at-Takwir 081:024

81:24 وماهو على الغيب بضنين


TransliterationWama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneenin
LiteralAnd he is not on the unseen/supernatural (future) with withholding/clinging .

Yusuf AliNeither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen.
PickthalAnd he is not avid of the Unseen.
Arberry he is not niggardly of the Unseen.
ShakirNor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer.
SarwarHe (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen.
KhalifaHe is not holding back any news.
Hilali/KhanAnd he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen.
H/K/SaheehAnd Muúammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.
Malikand he is not stingy to withhold the knowledge of the unseen.[24]
QXPAnd he withholds not in secret the least bit of the Revelation.
Maulana AliNor is he niggardly of the unseen.
Free MindsAnd he has no knowledge of the future.
Qaribullah he is not grudging of the Unseen.

George SaleAnd he suspected not the secrets revealed unto him.
JM RodwellNor doth he grapple with heaven's secrets,

Asadand he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception.



at-Takwir 081:025

81:25 وماهو بقول شيطان رجيم


TransliterationWama huwa biqawli shaytanin rajeemin
LiteralAnd it is not with a cursed/expelled devil's saying/statement .

Yusuf AliNor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed.
PickthalNor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned.
Arberry And it is not the word of an accursed Satan;
ShakirNor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan,
SarwarThe Quran is not the word of condemned satan.
KhalifaIt is not the talk of a rejected devil.
Hilali/KhanAnd it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan).
H/K/SaheehAnd the Qurâ an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].
MalikThis (Qur’an) is not the word of an accursed Satan.[25]
QXPNor is it the utterance of a rejected satanic force. (Such as desire).
Maulana AliNor is it the word of an accursed devil --
Free MindsAnd it is not the saying of an outcast devil.
Qaribullah Nor is this the word of a stoned satan.

George SaleNeither are these the words of an accursed devil.
JM RodwellNor doth he teach the doctrine of a cursed Satan.

AsadNor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed.



at-Takwir 081:026

81:26 فاين تذهبون

LiteralSo where (do) you go ?

81:27 ان هو الا ذكر للعالمين


TransliterationIn huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
LiteralThat truly it is except a reminder to the creations all together/(universes).

Yusuf AliVerily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:
PickthalThis is naught else than a reminder unto creation,
Arberry It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings,
ShakirIt is naught but a reminder for the nations,
SarwarThis is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind).
KhalifaThis is a message for all the people.
Hilali/KhanVerily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the Alameen (mankind and jinns) .
H/K/SaheehIt is not except a reminder to the worlds
MalikThis is but a Message to all the people of the world,[27]
QXPThis Message is no less than a Reminder and giver of eminence to all mankind.
Maulana AliIt is naught but a Reminder for the nations,
Free MindsIt is but a reminder for the worlds.
Qaribullah This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds,

George SaleThis is no other than an admonition unto all creatures;
JM RodwellVerily, this is no other than a warning to all creatures;

AsadThis [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind -



at-Takwir 081:028

81:28 لمن شاء منكم ان يستقيم


TransliterationLiman shaa minkum an yastaqeema
LiteralTo who willed/wanted from you that (E) to be straight/direct.

Yusuf Ali(With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight:
PickthalUnto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight.
Arberry for whosoever of you who would go straight;
ShakirFor him among you who pleases to go straight.
SarwarSo let those who want, choose the right guidance
KhalifaFor those who wish to go straight.
Hilali/KhanTo whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight,
H/K/SaheehFor whoever wills among you to take a right course.
Malikto each one who wishes to follow the Right Way.[28]
QXPUnto everyone of you who wills to walk aright. (1:5).
Maulana AliFor him among you who will go straight.
Free MindsFor whomever of you wishes to be straight.
Qaribullah for whosoever of you would go straight,

George Saleunto him among you who shall be willing to walk uprightly:
JM RodwellTo him among you who willeth to walk in a straight path:

Asadto everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way.



at-Takwir 081:029

81:29 وماتشاؤون الا ان يشاء الله رب العالمين


TransliterationWama tashaoona illa an yashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameena
LiteralAnd you do not want/will/intend except that (E) (if) God wants/wills/intends, the creations all together's/(universe's) Lord.

Yusuf AliBut ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds.
PickthalAnd ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation.
Arberry but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being.
ShakirAnd you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds.
SarwarHowever, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so.
KhalifaWhatever you will is in accordance with the will of GOD, Lord of the universe.
Hilali/KhanAnd you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists).
H/K/SaheehAnd you do not will except that Allah wills Lord of the worlds.
MalikYet your wishes are of no avail unless Allah, the Lord of the worlds, pleases so.[29]
QXPBut you cannot will it unless you abide by the Laws of the Lord of the Worlds. (4:88).
Maulana AliAnd you will not, except Allah please, the Lord of the worlds.
Free MindsAnd you cannot will anything except if God also wills, the Lord of the worlds.
Qaribullah but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds.

George SaleBut ye shall not will, unless God willeth, the Lord of all creatures.
JM RodwellBut will it ye shall not, unless as God willeth it, the Lord of the worlds.

AsadBut you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way].
