84:1 سورة الانشقاق بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ اذا السماء انشقت


TransliterationItha alssamao inshaqqat
LiteralWhen/if the sky/space split/cracked .

Yusuf AliWhen the sky is rent asunder,
PickthalWhen the heaven is split asunder
Arberry When heaven is rent asunder
ShakirWhen the heaven bursts asunder,
SarwarWhen the heavens are rent asunder
KhalifaThe time will come when the sky is ruptured.
Hilali/KhanWhen the heaven is split asunder,
H/K/SaheehWhen the sky has split [open]
MalikWhen heaven will split asunder,[1]
QXPWhen the Sky is rent asunder. (The high Space will be explored and Astronomy will bring knowledge of the Cosmos).
Maulana AliWhen the heaven bursts asunder,

al-Inshiqaq 084:002

84:2 واذنت لربها وحقت


TransliterationWaathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat
LiteralAnd listened/heard (obeyed) to its Lord, and became certain/fact/deserved .

Yusuf AliAnd hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);-
PickthalAnd attentive to her Lord in fear,
Arberry and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed;
ShakirAnd obeys its Lord and it must.
Sarwarin obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them,
KhalifaIt will submit to its Lord and expire.
Hilali/KhanAnd listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so;
H/K/SaheehAnd has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]
Malikobeying her Lord’s command as she ought to.[2]
QXPIt will listen to its Lord for that is what it has been decreed to do.
Maulana AliAnd listens to its Lord and is made fit;
Free MindsAnd it allowed its Lord, and was ready.
Qaribullah hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do;

George Saleand shall obey its Lord, and shall be capable thereof;
JM RodwellAnd duteously obeyed its Lord;

Asadobeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must;



al-Inshiqaq 084:003

84:3 واذا الارض مدت


TransliterationWa-itha al-ardu muddat
LiteralAnd when/if the earth/Planet Earth was extended/spread.

Yusuf AliAnd when the earth is flattened out,
PickthalAnd when the earth is spread out
Arberry when earth is stretched out
ShakirAnd when the earth is stretched,
Sarwarwhen the earth is stretched out
KhalifaThe earth will be leveled.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the earth is stretched forth,
H/K/SaheehAnd when the earth has been extended
MalikWhen the earth will spread out[3]
QXPAnd when the earth is spread out. (It becomes widely inhabited).
Maulana AliAnd when the earth is stretched,
Free MindsAnd when the land is stretched.
Qaribullah when the earth is stretched out

George Saleand when the earth shall be stretched out,
JM RodwellAnd when Earth shall have been stretched out as a plain,

Asadand when the earth is leveled,



al-Inshiqaq 084:004

84:4 والقت مافيها وتخلت


TransliterationWaalqat ma feeha watakhallat
LiteralAnd it threw what (is) in it, and became free.

Yusuf AliAnd casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty,
PickthalAnd hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty
Arberry and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself,
ShakirAnd casts forth what is in it and becomes empty,
Sarwarand throws out of itself all that it contains
KhalifaIt will eject its contents, as it erupts.
Hilali/KhanAnd has cast out all that was in it and became empty,
H/K/SaheehAnd has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]
Malikand cast out all that is within her and becomes empty,[4]
QXPAnd casts out whatever is in it and becomes void. (The earth will bring forth its fossils and minerals through Archaeology, drilling and mining).
Maulana AliAnd casts forth what is in it and becomes empty,
Free MindsAnd it spits out what is in it and becomes empty.
Qaribullah and casts out all that is within and voids itself,

George Saleand shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall remain empty,
JM RodwellAnd shall have cast forth what was in her and become empty,

Asadand casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void,



al-Inshiqaq 084:005

84:5 واذنت لربها وحقت


TransliterationWaathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat
LiteralAnd listened/heard (obeyed) to its Lord and became certain/fact/deserved .

Yusuf AliAnd hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality).
PickthalAnd attentive to her Lord in fear!
Arberry and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed!
ShakirAnd obeys its Lord and it must.
Sarwarin obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds).
KhalifaIt will submit to its Lord and expire.
Hilali/KhanAnd listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so;
H/K/SaheehAnd has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]
Malikobeying her Lord’s command as she ought to.[5]
QXPIt will listen to its Lord for that is what it has been decreed to do.

Qaribullah obeying its Lord, as it must do!

al-Inshiqaq 084:006

84:6 ياايها الانسان انك كادح الى ربك كدحا فملاقيه


TransliterationYa ayyuha al-insanu innaka kadihun ila rabbika kadhan famulaqeehi
LiteralYou, you the human/mankind, that you truly are exerting/labouring/toiling to your Lord exertion/labour/toil, so you (are) receiving/meeting Him .

Yusuf AliO thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him.
PickthalThou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence).
Arberry O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him.
ShakirO man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him.
SarwarHuman being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds).
KhalifaO humans, you are irreversibly heading for a meeting with your Lord.
Hilali/KhanO man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did).
H/K/SaheehO mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.
Malik, O mankind! Surely you must strive towards your Lord, a hard striving, then you shall meet Him.[6]
QXPO Man! Behold, You have been toiling hard toward your Lord - painfully toiling - then you shall meet Him.
Maulana AliO man, thou must strive a hard striving (to attain) to thy Lord, until thou meet Him.
Free MindsO man, you will be returning to your Lord with your actions and meeting Him.
Qaribullah O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him.

George SaleO man, verily labouring thou labourest to meet thy Lord, and thou shalt meet Him.
JM RodwellThen verily, O man, who desirest to reach thy Lord, shalt thou meet him.

Asad[then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him!



al-Inshiqaq 084:007

84:7 فاما من اوتي كتابه بيمينه


TransliterationFaama man ootiya kitabahu biyameenihi
LiteralSo but who was given/brought his Book/judgment with his right (hand).

Yusuf AliThen he who is given his Record in his right hand,
PickthalThen whoso is given his account in his right hand
Arberry Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand,
ShakirThen as to him who is given his book in his right hand,
SarwarThe reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands
KhalifaAs for the one who receives his record in his right hand,
Hilali/KhanThen, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand,
H/K/SaheehThen as for he who is given his record in his right hand,
MalikThen he who will be given his Book of deeds in his right hand,[7]
QXPThen whoever is given his Book in his right hand, (The follower of this Revelation is indeed blessed, for),
Maulana AliThen as to him who is given his book in his right hand,
Free MindsSo whoever is given his record in his right.
Qaribullah Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand

George SaleAnd he who shall have his book given into his right hand,
JM RodwellAnd he into whose right hand his Book shall be given,

AsadAnd as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand,



al-Inshiqaq 084:008

84:8 فسوف يحاسب حسابا يسيرا


TransliterationFasawfa yuhasabu hisaban yaseeran
LiteralSo he will be counted/calculated (with an) easy account/calculation .

Yusuf AliSoon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning,
PickthalHe truly will receive an easy reckoning
Arberry he shall surely receive an easy reckoning
ShakirHe shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning,
Sarwarwill be easy,.
KhalifaHis reckoning will be easy.
Hilali/KhanHe surely will receive an easy reckoning,
H/K/SaheehHe will be judged with an easy account
Malikshall have a quick and easy reckoning[8]
QXPHe truly reckons the decisions of his life with ease.
Maulana AliHis account will be taken by an easy reckoning,
Free MindsHe will then receive an easy reckoning.
Qaribullah shall have an easy reckoning

George Saleshall be called to an easy account,
JM RodwellShall be reckoned with in an easy reckoning,

Asadhe will in time be called to account with an easy accounting,



al-Inshiqaq 084:009

84:9 وينقلب الى اهله مسرورا


TransliterationWayanqalibu ila ahlihi masrooran
LiteralAnd he returns to his family/people delighted/happy.

Yusuf AliAnd he will turn to his people, rejoicing!
PickthalAnd will return unto his folk in joy.
Arberry and he will return to his family joyfully.
ShakirAnd he shall go back to his people joyful.
Sarwarand they will return to their people, delighted
KhalifaHe will return to his people joyfully.
Hilali/KhanAnd will return to his family in joy!
H/K/SaheehAnd return to his people in happiness.
Malikand shall return to his people rejoicing.[9]
QXPAnd returns rejoicing to his folk (the Ideologically synchronous minds).
Maulana AliAnd he will go back to his people rejoicing.
Free MindsAnd he will return to his family in joy!
Qaribullah and will return rejoicing to his family.

George Saleand shall turn unto his family with joy:
JM RodwellAnd shall turn, rejoicing, to his kindred.

Asadand will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind.



al-Inshiqaq 084:010

84:10 واما من اوتي كتابه وراء ظهره


TransliterationWaamma man ootiya kitabahu waraa thahrihi
LiteralAnd but who was given/brought his Book/judgment behind his back .

Yusuf AliBut he who is given his Record behind his back,-
PickthalBut whoso is given his account behind his back,
Arberry But as for him who is given his book behind his back,
ShakirAnd as to him who is given his book behind his back,
SarwarBut as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs,
KhalifaAs for the one who receives his record behind his back,
Hilali/KhanBut whosoever is given his Record behind his back,
H/K/SaheehBut as for he who is given his record behind his back,
MalikBut he who will be given his book of deeds from behind his back,[10]
QXPBut as for him who is given his Book behind his back (he who has turned his back to the Book, looking back to the ancestral traditions),
Maulana AliAnd as to him who is given his book behind his back,
Free MindsAnd as for he who is given his record behind his back.
Qaribullah But he who is given his Book from behind his back

George SaleBut he who shall have his book given him behind his back,
JM RodwellBut he whose Book shall be given him behind his back

AsadBut as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back;



al-Inshiqaq 084:011

84:11 فسوف يدعو ثبورا


TransliterationFasawfa yadAAoo thubooran
LiteralSo he will call (for) destruction and grief .

Yusuf AliSoon will he cry for perdition,
PickthalHe surely will invoke destruction
Arberry he shall call for destruction
ShakirHe shall call for perdition,
Sarwarthey will say, "Woe to us!".
KhalifaHe will be ridden with remorse.
Hilali/KhanHe will invoke (his) destruction,
H/K/SaheehHe will cry out for destruction
Malikshall soon be calling for death,[11]
QXPHe will be inviting upon himself chaos.
Maulana AliHe will call for perdition,
Free MindsHe will invoke his destruction.
Qaribullah shall call for destruction

George Saleshall invoke destruction to fall upon him,
JM RodwellShall invoke destruction:

Asadhe will in time pray for utter destruction:



al-Inshiqaq 084:012

84:12 ويصلى سعيرا


TransliterationWayasla saAAeeran
LiteralAnd he suffers/burns blazing/inflaming (punishment).

Yusuf AliAnd he will enter a Blazing Fire.
PickthalAnd be thrown to scorching fire.
Arberry and he shall roast at a Blaze.
ShakirAnd enter into burning fire.
SarwarThey will suffer the heat of hell fire.
KhalifaAnd will burn in Hell.
Hilali/KhanAnd shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning.
H/K/SaheehAnd [enter to] burn in a Blaze.
Malikand shall be made to enter a blazing fire;[12]
QXPAnd enter the Blazing Flame.
Maulana AliAnd enter into burning Fire.
Free MindsAnd he will enter a blazing Fire.
Qaribullah and roast at the Blaze.

George Saleand he shall be sent into hell to be burned;
JM RodwellBut in the fire shall he burn,

Asadbut he will enter the blazing flame.



al-Inshiqaq 084:013

84:13 انه كان في اهله مسرورا


TransliterationInnahu kana fee ahlihi masrooran
LiteralThat he truly was in his family/people delighted/happy.

Yusuf AliTruly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing!
PickthalHe verily lived joyous with his folk,
Arberry He once lived among his family joyfully;
ShakirSurely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers.
SarwarThey lived among their people joyfully
KhalifaHe used to act arrogantly among his people.
Hilali/KhanVerily, he was among his people in joy!
H/K/SaheehIndeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;
Malikfor he used to live happily with his kinfolks[13]
QXPBehold, he used to enjoy the company of his own kind.
Maulana AliSurely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his people.
Free MindsHe was with his people in joy!
Qaribullah Once, he lived joyfully among his family

George Salebecause he rejoiced insolently amidst his family on earth.
JM RodwellFor that he lived joyously among his kindred,

AsadBehold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind -



al-Inshiqaq 084:014

84:14 انه ظن ان لن يحور


TransliterationInnahu thanna an lan yahoora
LiteralThat he truly thought/assumed that (E) he will never/not return.

Yusuf AliTruly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)!
PickthalHe verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah).
Arberry he surely thought he would never revert.
ShakirSurely he thought that he would never return.
Sarwarand had thought that they would never be brought back to life again.
KhalifaHe thought that he will never be called to account.
Hilali/KhanVerily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)!
H/K/SaheehIndeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah].
Malikand thought that he would never return to Allah for accountability.[14]
QXPFor, behold, he deemed that life would never quit revolving like this.
Maulana AliSurely he thought that he would never return (to Allah) --
Free MindsHe thought he would not be returned.
Qaribullah and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord).

George SaleVerily he thought that he should never return unto God:
JM RodwellWithout a thought that he should return to God.

Asadfor, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God].



al-Inshiqaq 084:015

84:15 بلى ان ربه كان به بصيرا


TransliterationBala inna rabbahu kana bihi baseeran
LiteralYes/certainly, that truly his Lord was seeing/knowing with (of) him.

Yusuf AliNay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him!
PickthalNay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him!
Arberry Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him.
ShakirYea! surely his Lord does ever see him.
SarwarThis is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do).
KhalifaYes indeed, his Lord was Seer of him.
Hilali/KhanYes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him!
H/K/SaheehBut yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing.
MalikYet, surely his Lord was ever watching.[15]
QXPNay, but behold, his Lord did see all his mettle. ('Bihi' = In him = His true worth = His mettle).
Maulana AliYea, surely his Lord is ever Seer of him.
Free MindsNo, He is ever seeing of him.
Qaribullah Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him.

George SaleYea verily; but his Lord beheld him.
JM RodwellYea, but his Lord beheld him.

AsadYea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him!



al-Inshiqaq 084:016

84:16 فلا اقسم بالشفق


TransliterationFala oqsimu bialshshafaqi
LiteralSo I do not swear/make oath with the twilight .

Yusuf AliSo I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset;
PickthalOh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset,
Arberry No! I swear by the twilight
ShakirBut nay! I swear by the sunset redness,
SarwarI do not need to swear by the sunset,
KhalifaI solemnly swear by the rosy dusk.
Hilali/KhanSo I swear by the afterglow of sunset;
H/K/SaheehSo I swear by the twilight glow
MalikI swear by the glow of sunset;[16]
QXPOh, I call to witness the Rosy Afterglow of sunset.
Maulana AliBut nay, I call to witness the sunset redness,
Free MindsSo, I swear by the redness of dusk.
Qaribullah I swear by the twilight;

George SaleWherefore I swear by the redness of the sky after sun-set,
JM RodwellIt needs not therefore that I swear by the sunset redness,

AsadBUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow,



al-Inshiqaq 084:017

84:17 والليل وماوسق


TransliterationWaallayli wama wasaqa
LiteralAnd the night, and what carried/gathered/loaded.

Yusuf AliThe Night and its Homing;
PickthalAnd by the night and all that it enshroudeth,
Arberry and the night and what it envelops
ShakirAnd the night and that which it drives on,
Sarwaror by the night in which things all come together to rest,
KhalifaAnd the night as it spreads.
Hilali/KhanAnd by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness;
H/K/SaheehAnd [by] the night and what it envelops
Malikby the night and all that it gathers together;[17]
QXPAnd the Night and all that it enshrouds.
Maulana AliAnd the night and that which it drives on,
Free MindsAnd the night and what it is driven on.
Qaribullah by the night and all that it envelops;

George Saleand by the night, and the animals which it driveth together,
JM RodwellAnd by the night and its gatherings,

Asadand the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds,



al-Inshiqaq 084:018

84:18 والقمر اذا اتسق


TransliterationWaalqamari itha ittasaqa
LiteralAnd the moon when/if it organized/evened/gathered .

Yusuf AliAnd the Moon in her fullness:
PickthalAnd by the moon when she is at the full,
Arberry and the moon when it is at the full,
ShakirAnd the moon when it grows full,
Sarwaror by the moon when it is full,
KhalifaAnd the moon and its phases.
Hilali/KhanAnd by the moon when it is at the full,
H/K/SaheehAnd [by] the moon when it becomes full
Malikby the moon, when she grows full:[18]
QXPAnd the Moon as it steadily grows to her fullness.
Maulana AliAnd the moon when it grows full,
Free MindsAnd the moon when it is full.
Qaribullah by the moon, in its fullness

George Saleand by the moon when she is at the full;
JM RodwellAnd by the moon when at her full,

Asadand the moon, as it grows to its fullness:



al-Inshiqaq 084:019

84:19 لتركبن طبقا عن طبق


TransliterationLatarkabunna tabaqan AAan tabaqin
LiteralYou will ride/embark (E) a stage/layer/cover from/of/on a stage/layer/cover (they move from one state to another i.e. birth to death).

Yusuf AliYe shall surely travel from stage to stage.
PickthalThat ye shall journey on from plane to plane.
Arberry you shall surely ride stage after stage.
ShakirThat you shall most certainly enter one state after another.
Sarwarthat you will certainly pass through one stage after another.
KhalifaYou will move from stage to stage
Hilali/KhanYou shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter).
H/K/Saheeh[That] you will surely experience state after state.
Malikthat you shall gradually pass from one stage to another.[19]
QXPThat you will traverse higher and higher from one plane to another. (Civilizations will keep advancing in sciences, and individuals will always have a chance to grow in goodness. Furthermore, evolution of the 'Self' will carry on in the life to come).
Maulana AliThat you shall certainly ascend to one state after another.
Free MindsYou will ride a vessel upon a vessel.
Qaribullah that you shall surely ride from stage to stage.

George Saleye shall surely be transferred successively from state to state.
JM RodwellThat from state to state shall ye be surely carried onward.

Asad[even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage.



al-Inshiqaq 084:020

84:20 فمالهم لايؤمنون


TransliterationFama lahum la yu/minoona
LiteralSo why (is it) for them, they do not believe?

Yusuf AliWhat then is the matter with them, that they believe not?-
PickthalWhat aileth them, then, that they believe not
Arberry Then what ails them, that they believe not,
ShakirBut what is the matter with them that they do not believe,
SarwarWhat is the matter with them? Why do they not believe?.
KhalifaWhy do they not believe?
Hilali/KhanWhat is the matter with them, that they believe not?
H/K/SaheehSo what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,
MalikWhat is the matter with the people that they do not believe,[20]
QXPWhat, then, is the matter with them that they believe not (in a higher form of life?)
Maulana AliBut what is the matter with them that they believe not?
Free MindsSo what is the matter with them that they do not believe?
Qaribullah What is the matter with them, that they do not believe

George SaleWhat aileth them, therefore, that they believe not the resurrection;
JM RodwellWhat then hath come to them that they believe not?

AsadWhat, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? -



al-Inshiqaq 084:021

84:21 واذا قرئ عليهم القران لايسجدون


TransliterationWa-itha quri-a AAalayhimu alqur-anu la yasjudoona
LiteralAnd when/if the Koran is read on them they, they do not prostrate?

Yusuf AliAnd when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate,
PickthalAnd, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)?
Arberry and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow?
ShakirAnd when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance?
SarwarWhy, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves?.
KhalifaAnd when the Quran is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate,
H/K/SaheehAnd when the Qurâ an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?
Malikand when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not prostrate?[21]
QXPAnd when the Qur'an is recited to them, they prostrate not! (They adore not and humble themselves not before the eloquence, Wisdom and Majesty of the Divine Word!)
Maulana AliAnd, when the Qur’an is recited to thee, they adore (him) not?
Free MindsAnd when the Quran is being related to them, they do not prostrate.
Qaribullah and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate!

George Saleand that, when the Koran is read unto them, they worship not?
JM RodwellAnd that when the Koran is recited to them they adore not?

Asadand [that], when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration?



al-Inshiqaq 084:022

84:22 بل الذين كفروا يكذبون


TransliterationBali allatheena kafaroo yukaththiboona
LiteralBut those who disbelieved they lie/deny/falsify.

Yusuf AliBut on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).
PickthalNay, but those who disbelieve will deny;
Arberry Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies,
ShakirNay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth.
SarwarIn fact, they reject the Quran,
KhalifaThis is because those who disbelieved are rejecting (the Quran).
Hilali/KhanNay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.).
H/K/SaheehBut those who have disbelieved deny,
MalikNay! The unbelievers will deny;[22]
QXPNay, but the rejecters belie.
Maulana AliNay, those who disbelieve give the lie --
Free MindsNo, those who have rejected are in denial.
Qaribullah No, the unbelievers only belie,

George SaleYea: The unbelievers accuse the same of imposture:
JM RodwellYea, the unbelievers treat it as a lie.

AsadNay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]!



al-Inshiqaq 084:023

84:23 والله اعلم بما يوعون


TransliterationWaAllahu aAAlamu bima yooAAoona
LiteralAnd God (is) more knowing with what they comprehend/perceive/accept .

Yusuf AliBut Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts)
PickthalAnd Allah knoweth best what they are hiding.
Arberry and God knows very well what they are secreting.
ShakirAnd Allah knows best what they hide,
Sarwarbut God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts.
KhalifaGOD is fully aware of their innermost thoughts.
Hilali/KhanAnd Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds),
H/K/SaheehAnd Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.
Malikand Allah knows what they are hiding in their hearts.[23]
QXPAnd Allah is best Knower of what they hide. (Their idols, peer pressure, traditions, malice, schemes, vested interests).
Maulana AliAnd Allah knows best what they hide.
Free MindsAnd God is more aware of what they gather.
Qaribullah and Allah knows very well what they gather.

George SaleBut God well knoweth the malice which they keep hidden in their breasts.
JM RodwellBut God knoweth their secret hatreds:

AsadYet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts].



al-Inshiqaq 084:024

84:24 فبشرهم بعذاب اليم


TransliterationFabashshirhum biAAathabin aleemin
LiteralSo announce good news to them with (of) a painful torture.

Yusuf AliSo announce to them a Penalty Grievous,
PickthalSo give them tidings of a painful doom,
Arberry So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement,
ShakirSo announce to them a painful punishment~
Sarwar(Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment
KhalifaPromise them painful retribution.
Hilali/KhanSo announce to them a painful torment.
H/K/SaheehSo give them tidings of a painful punishment,
MalikTherefore, proclaim to them a painful punishment,[24]
QXPSo give them the tiding of an awful doom.
Maulana AliSo announce to them a painful chastisement,
Free MindsSo inform them of a painful retribution.
Qaribullah Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment,

George SaleWherefore denounce unto them a grievous punishment,
JM RodwellLet their only tidings be those of painful punishment;

AsadHence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] -



al-Inshiqaq 084:025

84:25 الا الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات لهم اجر غير ممنون


TransliterationIlla allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum ajrun ghayru mamnoonin
LiteralExcept those who believed and made/did the correct/righteous deeds, for them (is) a reward not obligated/interrupted

Yusuf AliExcept to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail.
PickthalSave those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing.
Arberry except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing.
ShakirExcept those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off.
Sarwarexcept the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward.
KhalifaAs for those who believed and led a righteous life, they receive a recompense that is well-deserved.
Hilali/KhanSave those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise).
H/K/SaheehExcept for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
Malikexcept those who embrace the true faith and do good deeds; for them there will be a never ending reward.[25]
QXPExcept to those who choose to be graced with belief and do acts that help people - for them is a reward unending.
Maulana AliExcept those who believe and do good -- for them is a reward that shall never be cut off.
Free MindsExcept for those who believe and do good works, they will have a reward that will not end.
Qaribullah except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense.

George Saleexcept those who believe and do good works: For them is prepared a never failing reward.
JM RodwellSave to those who believe and do the things that be right. An unfailing recompense shall be theirs.

Asadunless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works: for theirs shall be a reward unending!
