54:38 ولقد صبحهم بكرة عذاب مستقر


TransliterationWalaqad sabbahahum bukratan AAathabun mustaqirrun
LiteralAnd settled/established torture had (E) come to them in the morning (at) day breaks/early mornings.

Yusuf AliEarly on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them:
PickthalAnd in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning.
Arberry In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement:
ShakirAnd certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning.
