| 3:166 ومااصابكم يوم التقى الجمعان فباذن الله وليعلم المؤمنين | |
| Transliteration | Wama asabakum yawma iltaqa aljamAAani fabi-ithni Allahi waliyaAAlama almu/mineena |
| Literal | And what struck/hit you (on the) day the two groups/gatherings met , so (it is) with God's permission, and to know the believers. |
| Yusuf Ali | What ye suffered on the day the two armies Met, was with the leave of Allah, in order that He might test the believers,- |
