| 46:27 ولقد اهلكنا ماحولكم من القرى وصرفنا الايات لعلهم يرجعون | |
| Transliteration | Walaqad ahlakna ma hawlakum mina alqura wasarrafna al-ayati laAAallahum yarjiAAoona |
| Literal | And We had (E) destroyed what (is) around/surrounding you from the villages/urban cities, and We detailed/elaborated linguistically the evidences/verses , maybe/perhaps they return. |
| Yusuf Ali | We destroyed aforetime populations round about you; and We have shown the Signs in various ways, that they may turn (to Us). |
| Pickthal | And verily We have destroyed townships round about you, and displayed (for them) Our revelation, that haply they might return. |
| Arberry | And We destroyed the cities about you, and We turned about the signs, that haply they would return. |
| Shakir | And certainly We destroyed the towns which are around you, and We repeat the communications that they might turn. |
| Sarwar | We destroyed some towns around you and showed you the evidence (of the Truth) so that perhaps you would turn (to God). |

| H/K/Saheeh | And We have already destroyed what surrounds you of [those] cities, and We have diversified the signs [or verses] that perhaps they might return [from disbelief]. |
