| Transliteration | Fama aghna AAanhum ma kanoo yaksiboona |
| Literal | So what they were gaining/acquiring did not enrich/suffice them from them (was of no benefit to them). |
| Yusuf Ali | And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! |
| Pickthal | And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not. |
| Arberry | that they earned did not avail them. |
| Shakir | And what they earned did not avail them. |
| Sarwar | Out of what they had gained, nothing proved to be of any benefit to them. |
