| 7:70 قالوا اجئتنا لنعبد الله وحده ونذر ما كان يعبد اباؤنا فاتنا بما تعدنا ان كنت من الصادقين | |
| Transliteration | Qaloo aji/tana linaAAbuda Allaha wahdahu wanathara ma kana yaAAbudu abaona fa/tina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina alssadiqeena |
| Literal | They said: Did you come to us to worship God alone, and we leave (discard) what our fathers were worship(ping), so come/bring to us with what you promise us, if you were from the truthful. |
| Yusuf Ali | They said: "Comest thou to us, that we may worship Allah alone, and give up the cult of our fathers? bring us what thou threatenest us with, if so be that thou tellest the truth!" |
