| Transliteration | Faalhamaha fujooraha wataqwaha |
| Literal | So He inspired/transmitted (to) it its debauchery/corruption, and its fear and obedience of God. |
| Yusuf Ali | And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- |
| Pickthal | And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. |
| Arberry | and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! |
| Shakir | Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; |
