| Transliteration | Faintaqamna minhum wa-innahuma labi-imamin mubeenin |
| Literal | So We revenged from them that they (B) truly (the two nations) are with a clear/evident leader/example (E) . |
| Yusuf Ali | So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. |
| Pickthal | So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. |
| Arberry | and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. |
