| Transliteration | Thumma jaahum ma kanoo yooAAadoona |
| Literal | Then came to them what they were being promised. |
| Yusuf Ali | Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! |
| Pickthal | And then cometh that which they were promised, |
| Arberry | then there comes on them that they were promised, |
| Shakir | Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, |
| Sarwar | and then Our torment will strike them, |
| Khalifa | Then the retribution came to them, just as promised. |
