| Transliteration | Wa-itha massahu alkhayru manooAAan |
| Literal | And if the goodness touched him, (he is) often preventing/prohibiting . |
| Yusuf Ali | And niggardly when good reaches him;- |
| Pickthal | And, when good befalleth him, grudging; |
