| Transliteration | Wawujoohun yawma-ithin basiratun |
| Literal | And faces/fronts, that day (are) frowning/gloomy . |
| Yusuf Ali | And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, |
| Pickthal | And that day will other faces be despondent, |
| Arberry | and upon that day faces shall be scowling, |
