75:2 ولااقسم بالنفس اللوامة |

Literal | And nor I swear/make oath with the self , the often blaming/reprimanding. |

Yusuf Ali | And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). |
Pickthal | Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). |
Arberry | No! I swear by the reproachful soul. |
Shakir | Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. |
Sarwar | and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). |
Khalifa | And I swear by the blaming soul. |

75:3 ايحسب الانسان الن نجمع عظامه |

Literal | Does the human/mankind think/suppose that We (will) not gather/unite his bones? |

Yusuf Ali | Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? |
Pickthal | Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? |
Arberry | What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? |
Shakir | Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? |

75:4 بلى قادرين على ان نسوي بنانه |

Literal | Yes/certainly We are capable/able on that (E) We straighten (recreate) his fingertip (finger print) . |

Yusuf Ali | Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. |
Pickthal | Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! |
Arberry | Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. |
Shakir | Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips |
Sarwar | We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. |
Khalifa | Yes indeed; we are able to reconstruct his finger tip. |
Hilali/Khan | Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. |
H/K/Saheeh | Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. |
Malik | Why not? We are able to put together, in perfect order, the very tips of his fingers.[4] |

al-Qiyamah 075:005
75:5 بل يريد الانسان ليفجر امامه |

Transliteration | Bal yureedu al-insanu liyafjura amamahu |
Literal | Rather the human/mankind wants to debauch/corrupt in front of him. |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. |
Pickthal | But man would fain deny what is before him. |
Arberry | Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, |
Shakir | Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. |
Sarwar | In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. |
Khalifa | But the human being tends to believe only what he sees in front of him. |
Hilali/Khan | Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. |
H/K/Saheeh | But man desires to continue in sin. |
Malik | But man wishes to keep on doing evil in the future as well.[5] |
QXP | But man is after subverting his own future. |
Maulana Ali | Nay, man desires to go on doing evil in front of him. |
Free Minds | No, man desires that he continue committing sins. |
Qaribullah | Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, |

Literal | The human/mankind that day says: "Where (is) the escape/escape to (shelter)?" |

Yusuf Ali | That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" |
Pickthal | On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! |
Arberry | upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' |
Shakir | Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? |
Sarwar | people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?". |
Khalifa | The human being will say on that day, "Where is the escape?" |
Hilali/Khan | On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" |
H/K/Saheeh | Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" |
Malik | - on that Day man will ask: "Is there any way to escape?"[10] |
QXP | On that Day man will wonder, "Where to flee!" (In this life and in the life to come. Verses 7-10 could easily allude to the merging of the super power of the times, Persia with the newly enlightened Arabia in 642 C.E., 10 years after the exalted Prophet's death). |

Literal | The human/mankind (will) be informed that day with what he advanced/preceded and he delayed. |

Yusuf Ali | That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. |
Pickthal | On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. |
Arberry | Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; |
Shakir | Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. |
Sarwar | On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. |
Khalifa | The human being will be informed, on that day, of everything he did to advance himself, and everything he did to regress himself. |
Hilali/Khan | On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). |
H/K/Saheeh | Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. |
Malik | On that Day man shall be told about all his deeds, from the first to the last.[13] |

Literal | Do not move with it your tongue to hurry/hasten/rush with it. |

Yusuf Ali | Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. |
Pickthal | Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. |
Arberry | Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; |
Shakir | Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, |
Sarwar | (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. |

75:17 ان علينا جمعه وقرانه |

Literal | That truly on Us (is) gathering/accumulating it , and its reading/recitation . |

Yusuf Ali | It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: |
Pickthal | Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. |
Arberry | Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. |
Shakir | Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. |
Sarwar | We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. |
Khalifa | It is we who will collect it into Quran. |
Hilali/Khan | It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), |
H/K/Saheeh | Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. |
Malik | It is Our responsibility to collect it in your memory, and make you recite it[17] |
QXP | Behold, it is up to Us to gather it (in your heart) and the reading of it. (He will bless whatever effort we put into learning it). |
Maulana Ali | Surely on Us rests the collecting of it and the reciting of it. |
Free Minds | It is for Us to gather it and relate it. |
Qaribullah | It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. |

al-Qiyamah 075:018
75:18 فاذا قراناه فاتبع قرانه |

Transliteration | Fa-itha qara/nahu faittabiAA qur-anahu |
Literal | So when/if We read it, so follow its reading/recitation . |

Yusuf Ali | But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): |
Pickthal | And when We read it, follow thou the reading; |
Arberry | So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. |
Shakir | Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. |
Sarwar | When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). |
Khalifa | Once we recite it, you shall follow such a Quran. |
Hilali/Khan | And when We have recited it to you (O Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)), then follow you its (the Qurans) recital. |

75:19 ثم ان علينا بيانه |

Yusuf Ali | Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): |
Pickthal | Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. |
Arberry | Then Ours it is to explain it. |
Shakir | Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. |
Sarwar | We shall be responsible for its explanation. |
Khalifa | Then it is we who will explain it. |
Hilali/Khan | Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, |
H/K/Saheeh | Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. |
Malik | and then it is Our responsibility to explain it.[19] |

Yusuf Ali | Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, |

Sarwar | Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life |

Literal | (They) think/suppose that a disaster/calamity will be made/done with it. |

Yusuf Ali | In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; |
Pickthal | Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. |
Arberry | thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. |
Shakir | Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. |
Sarwar | certain of facing a great calamity. |
Khalifa | Expecting the worst. |
Hilali/Khan | Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; |
H/K/Saheeh | Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. |
Malik | thinking that some backbreaking calamity is about to be inflicted on them.[25] |

Maulana Ali | Knowing that a great disaster will be made to befall them. |

Qaribullah | so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. |

Literal | No, but when/if the collar bones/verge of death reached. |

Yusuf Ali | Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), |
Pickthal | Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat |
Arberry | No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles |
Shakir | Nay! When it comes up to the throat, |
Sarwar | Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat |

Arberry | and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' |
Shakir | And it is said: Who will be a magician? |
Sarwar | and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, |
Khalifa | And it is ordered: "Let go!" |

Malik | and those around him cry: "Is there any enchanter to help?"[27] |

Qaribullah | and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter? ' |

Asad | and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" |
al-Qiyamah 075:028
75:28 وظن انه الفراق |

Transliteration | Wathanna annahu alfiraqu |
Literal | And (he) thought/assumed that it is the separation. |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting; |
Pickthal | And he knoweth that it is the parting; |
Arberry | and he thinks that it is the parting |
Shakir | And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting |
Sarwar | (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. |
Khalifa | He knows it is the end. |
Hilali/Khan | And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); |
H/K/Saheeh | And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation |
Malik | Then man will conclude that it was the time of departure from this world.[28] |

Maulana Ali | And he is sure that it is the parting, |

75:29 والتفت الساق بالساق |

75:30 الى ربك يومئذ المساق |

Literal | To your Lord (on) that day (is) the drive (destination). |

Yusuf Ali | That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! |
Pickthal | Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. |
Arberry | upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. |
Shakir | To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. |
Sarwar | that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. |
Khalifa | To your Lord, on that day, is the summoning. |
Hilali/Khan | The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! |

75:31 فلا صدق ولاصلى |

Transliteration | Fala saddaqa wala salla |
Literal | So he did not give charity and nor he prayed. |

Yusuf Ali | So he gave nothing in charity, nor did he pray!- |
Pickthal | For he neither trusted, nor prayed. |
Arberry | For he confirmed it not, and did not pray, |
Shakir | So he did not accept the truth, nor did he pray, |
Sarwar | The human being does not want to believe the Truth, nor does he want to pray. |
Khalifa | For he observed neither the charity, nor the contact prayers (Salat). |
Hilali/Khan | So he (the disbeliever) neither believed (in this Quran, in the Message of Muhammad SAW) nor prayed! |
H/K/Saheeh | And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed. |
Malik | But in this life he neither believed, nor offered Salah (prayed);[31] |
QXP | For he neither stood by the Truth, nor did he follow it. ('Sal'= To follow, like the runners-up horse closely follows the winner = To closely follow the Commands of Allah). |
Maulana Ali | So he accepted not the truth nor prayed, |
Free Minds | For he did not believe nor reach out. |
Qaribullah | Because, he neither believed nor prayed; |

75:32 ولكن كذب وتولى |

Literal | And but lied/denied and turned away. |

Yusuf Ali | But on the contrary, he rejected Truth and turned away! |

Arberry | but he cried it lies, and he turned away, |
Shakir | But called the truth a lie and turned back, |

Literal | Then he went to his people walking stretched with his arms moving in a conceited manner (marching arrogantly). |

Yusuf Ali | Then did he stalk to his family in full conceit! |
Pickthal | Then went he to his folk with glee. |
Arberry | then he went to his household arrogantly. |
Shakir | Then he went to his followers, walking away in haughtiness. |
Sarwar | and haughtily goes to his people. |

Literal | Did he not be a drop/male's or female's secretion from sperm/semen , semen being ejaculated/ discharged ? |

Literal | Then (he) was/became a blood clot , so He created (it), so He straightened/perfected (it). |

Yusuf Ali | Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. |
Pickthal | Then he became a clot; then (Allah) shaped and fashioned |
Arberry | Then he was a blood-clot, and He created and formed, |
Shakir | Then he was a clot of blood, so He created (him) then made (him) perfect. |
