Transliteration | Wama yudreeka laAAallahu yazzakka |
Literal | And what makes you know/informs you maybe/perhaps he, he purifies/corrects (himself). |
Yusuf Ali | But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- |
Pickthal | What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) |
Arberry | And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, |
Shakir | And what would make you know that he would purify himself, |
Sarwar | You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, |
Khalifa | How do you know? He may purify himself. |
Hilali/Khan | But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? |
