Literal | And what makes you know/informs you maybe/perhaps he, he purifies/corrects (himself). |

Yusuf Ali | But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- |
Pickthal | What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) |
Arberry | And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, |

Pickthal | Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). |

Pickthal | Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, |
