Quraysh 106:001

106:1 سورة قريش بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ لايلاف قريش


TransliterationLi-eelafi qurayshin
LiteralTo Koreish's unification/familiarity .

Yusuf AliFor the covenants (of security and safeguard enjoyed) by the Quraish,
PickthalFor the taming of Qureysh.
Arberry For the composing of Koraish,
ShakirFor the protection of the Qureaish--
SarwarFor God's favors to them
KhalifaThis should be cherished by Quraish.
Hilali/Khan(It is a great Grace and Protection from Allah), for the taming of the Quraish,
H/K/SaheehFor the accustomed security of the Quraysh
MalikThe privilege of protection enjoyed by the Qureysh,[1]
QXPFor the privilege (of security) cherished by Quraish.
Maulana AliFor the protection of the Quraish
Free MindsThis should be cherished by Quraysh.
Qaribullah For the custom of the Koraysh,

Quraysh 106:002

106:2 ايلافهم رحلة الشتاء والصيف


TransliterationEelafihim rihlata alshshita-i waalssayfi
LiteralTheir unification/familiarization (with) the winter's and the summer's travel/journey .

Yusuf AliTheir covenants (covering) journeys by winter and summer,-
PickthalFor their taming (We cause) the caravans to set forth in winter and summer.
Arberry their composing for the winter and summer caravan!
ShakirTheir protection during their trading caravans in the winter and the summer--
Sarwarduring their summer and winter journeys,
KhalifaThe way they cherish the caravans of the winter and the summer.
Hilali/Khan(And with all those Allahs Grace and Protections for their taming, We cause) the (Quraish) caravans to set forth safe in winter (to the south), and in summer (to the north without any fear),
H/K/SaheehTheir accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer
Maliksafe passage of their trading caravans in the winter and the summer (due to their being the caretakers of the House of Allah, and they know this fact),[2]
QXPEnjoying their winter and summer caravans. (To Yemen and Syria respectively, that makes them affluent).
Maulana AliTheir protection during their journey in the winter and the summer.
Free MindsThe way they cherish the journey of the winter and summer.
Qaribullah their custom of the winter and summer journey.

George Saletheir uniting in sending forth the caravan of merchants and purveyors in winter and summer:
JM RodwellTheir union in equipping caravans winter and summer.

Asadsecure in their winter and summer journeys,



Quraysh 106:003

106:3 فليعبدوا رب هذا البيت


TransliterationFalyaAAbudoo rabba hatha albayti
LiteralSo they should worship this, the House's/Home's Lord.

Yusuf AliLet them adore the Lord of this House,
PickthalSo let them worship the Lord of this House,
Arberry So let them serve the Lord of this House
ShakirSo let them serve the Lord of this House
SarwarQuraish should worship the Lord of this House.
KhalifaThey shall worship the Lord of this shrine.
Hilali/KhanSo let them worship (Allah) the Lord of this House (the Kabah in Makkah).
H/K/SaheehLet them worship the Lord of this House,
MalikSo they should worship the Lord of this House,[3]
QXPIt infers, then, that they ought to serve the Lord of this House alone. (2:125-126).
Maulana AliSo let them serve the Lord of this House.
Free MindsSo let them serve the Lord of this sanctuary.
Qaribullah Therefore let them worship the Lord of this House

Quraysh 106:004

106:4 الذي اطعمهم من جوع وامنهم من خوف


TransliterationAllathee atAAamahum min jooAAin waamanahum min khawfin
LiteralWho fed them from starvation/hunger, and secured them from fear/fright.

Yusuf AliWho provides them with food against hunger, and with security against fear (of danger).
PickthalWho hath fed them against hunger and hath made them safe from fear.
Arberry who has fed them against hunger and secured them from fear.
ShakirWho feeds them against hunger and gives them security against fear.
SarwarIt is He who has fed them when they were hungry and has made them secure from fear.
KhalifaFor He is the One who fed them after hunger, and provided them with security after fear.
Hilali/Khan(He) Who has fed them against hunger, and has made them safe from fear.
H/K/SaheehWho has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.
MalikWho provided them food in the days of famine and made them secure against fear.[4]
QXPWho has given them freedom from want, and has made them secure against fear. ('Ta'm' = Feeding = Taking care = Fulfilling needs = Freeing from want).
Maulana AliWho feeds them against hunger, and gives them security against fear.
Free MindsThe One who fed them from hunger, and protected them from fear.
Qaribullah who fed them from hunger and secured them from fear.

George Salewho supplieth them with food against hunger, and hath rendered them secure from fear.
JM RodwellAnd secured them against alarm.

Asadwho has given them food against hunger, and made them safe from danger.
