‏82:1 سورة الانفطار بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ اذا السماء انفطرت

Transliteration	Itha alssamao infatarat
Literal	When/if the sky/space split/cracked/cleaved.

Yusuf Ali	When the Sky is cleft asunder;
Pickthal	When the heaven is cleft asunder,
Arberry	When heaven is split open,
Shakir	When the heaven becomes cleft asunder,
Sarwar	When the heavens are rent asunder,
Khalifa	When the heaven is shattered.
Hilali/Khan	When the heaven is cleft asunder.
H/K/Saheeh	When the sky breaks apart
Malik	When the heaven will cleft asunder;[1]
QXP	When the sky is shattered. (The conquest of the high Space will begin).
Maulana Ali	When the heaven is cleft asunder,

‏82:2 واذا الكواكب انتثرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha alkawakibu intatharat
Literal	And when/if the stars/planets scattered/spread .

Yusuf Ali	When the Stars are scattered;
Pickthal	When the planets are dispersed,
Arberry	when the stars are scattered,
Shakir	And when the stars become dispersed,
Sarwar	the stars are dispersed,
Khalifa	The planets are scattered.
Hilali/Khan	And when the stars have fallen and scattered;
H/K/Saheeh	And when the stars fall, scattering,
Malik	when the stars will scatter;[2]
QXP	And when the planets are dispersed. (Some of them are counted and named).
Maulana Ali	And when the stars become dispersed,

‏82:3 واذا البحار فجرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha albiharu fujjirat
Literal	And when/if the seas/oceans burst/over flowed.

Yusuf Ali	When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth;
Pickthal	When the seas are poured forth,
Arberry	when the seas swarm over,
Shakir	And when the seas are made to flow forth,
Sarwar	the oceans are merged together,
Khalifa	The oceans are exploded.
Hilali/Khan	And when the seas are burst forth (got dried up);
H/K/Saheeh	And when the seas are erupted
Malik	when the oceans will be torn apart;[3]
QXP	And when the oceans will overflow with traffic.
Maulana Ali	And when the rivers are made to flow forth,

Qaribullah	when the oceans are gushed forth,

George Sale	and when the seas shall be suffered to join their waters;

Asad	and when the seas burst beyond their bounds,

al-Infitar 082:004

‏82:4 واذا القبور بعثرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha alqubooru buAAthirat
Literal	And when/if the graves/burial places are scattered/over thrown .

Yusuf Ali	And when the Graves are turned upside down;-
Pickthal	And the sepulchres are overturned,
Arberry	when the tombs are overthrown,
Shakir	And when the graves are laid open,
Sarwar	and the graves are turned inside out,
Khalifa	The graves are opened.
Hilali/Khan	And when the graves are turned upside down (and they bring out their contents)
H/K/Saheeh	And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,
Malik	and when the graves will be laid open:[4]
QXP	And when the hidden things in the earth are overturned. (The earth will be excavated for Archaeology (100:9)).
Maulana Ali	And when the graves are laid open --

Qaribullah	when the graves are overturned,

‏82:5 علمت نفس ماقدمت واخرت

Transliteration	AAalimat nafsun ma qaddamat waakhkharat
Literal	A self knew what it advanced/preceded and delayed.

Yusuf Ali	(Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back.
Pickthal	A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
Arberry	then a soul shall know its works, the former and the latter.
Shakir	Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back.
Sarwar	every soul will see the result of its deeds - those recorded before his death and those which will produce either virtue or evil after his death.
Khalifa	Every soul will find out what caused it to advance, and what caused it to regress.
Hilali/Khan	(Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).
H/K/Saheeh	A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
Malik	then each soul shall know what it has sent forth and what it left behind.[5]
QXP	A 'Self' will know what it has done and what it has left undone. (Psychology will make strides).
Maulana Ali	Every soul will know what it his sent before and what it has held back.
Free Minds	Then the soul will know what it has brought forth and what it has left behind.
Qaribullah	the soul shall know what it has done, the former and the latter.

George Sale	Every soul shall know what it hath committed, and what it hath omitted.
JM Rodwell	Each soul shall recognise its earliest and its latest actions.

Asad	every human being will [at last] comprehend, what he has sent ahead and what he has held back [in this world].

al-Infitar 082:006

‏82:6 ياايها الانسان ماغرك بربك الكريم

Transliteration	Ya ayyuha al-insanu ma gharraka birabbika alkareemi
Literal	You, you the human/mankind, what has deceived/tempted you with (from) your Lord, the honoured/generous ?

Yusuf Ali	O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?-
Pickthal	O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
Arberry	O Man! What deceived thee as to thy generous Lord
Shakir	O man ! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one,
Sarwar	Human being, what evil has deceived you about your Gracious Lord,.
Khalifa	O you human being, what diverted you from your Lord Most Honorable?
Hilali/Khan	O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?
H/K/Saheeh	O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
Malik	O man! What has lured you away from your gracious Lord,[6]
QXP	O Man! What has lured you away from your Sustainer, the Bountiful?
Maulana Ali	O man, what beguiles thee from they Lord, the Gracious?
Free Minds	O man, what has turned you arrogant against your Lord, the Most Generous;
Qaribullah	O human! What has deceived you concerning your Generous Lord

George Sale	O man, what hath seduced thee against thy gracious Lord,
JM Rodwell	O man! what hath misled thee against thy generous Lord,

Asad	O MAN! What is it that lures thee away from thy bountiful Sustainer,

al-Infitar 082:007

‏82:7 الذي خلقك فسواك فعدلك

Transliteration	Allathee khalaqaka fasawwaka faAAadalaka
Literal	Who created you, so He straightened you, so He balanced/adjusted you .

Yusuf Ali	Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias;
Pickthal	Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?
Arberry	who created thee and shaped thee and wrought thee in symmetry
Shakir	Who created you, then made you complete, then made you symmetrical?
Sarwar	Who created you proportionately and fashioned you
Khalifa	The One who created you, designed you, and perfected you.
Hilali/Khan	Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion;
H/K/Saheeh	Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
Malik	Who created you, fashioned you, proportioned you,[7]
QXP	Who created you, then fashioned you, then proportioned you? (95:4).
Maulana Ali	Who created thee, then made thee complete, then made thee in a right good state --
Free Minds	The One who created you, then evolved you, then made you upright?
Qaribullah	who created you, formed you and proportioned you?

George Sale	who hath created thee, and put thee together,
JM Rodwell	Who hath created thee and moulded thee and shaped thee aright?

Asad	who has created thee, and formed thee in accordance with what thou art meant' to be, and shaped thy nature in just proportions,

al-Infitar 082:008

‏82:8 في اي صورة ماشاء ركبك

Transliteration	Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaa rakkabaka
Literal	In any shape/picture what He willed/intended He assembled/composed you .

Yusuf Ali	In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together.
Pickthal	Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.
Arberry	and composed thee after what form He would?
Shakir	Into whatever form He pleased He constituted you.
Sarwar	in whatever composition He wanted.
Khalifa	In whatever design He chose, He constructed it.
Hilali/Khan	In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
H/K/Saheeh	In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
Malik	and molded you in whatever form He pleased?[8]
QXP	Having shaped you and put you together well in accordance with His Laws. (59:24).
Maulana Ali	Into whatever form He pleases He casts thee.
Free Minds	In any which picture He chooses, He places you.
Qaribullah	In whatever shape He will He could surely have fashioned you.

George Sale	and rightly disposed thee? In what form He pleased hath He fashioned thee.
JM Rodwell	In the form which pleased Him hath He fashioned thee.

Asad	having put thee together in whatever form He willed [thee to have]?

al-Infitar 082:009

‏82:9 كلا بل تكذبون بالدين

Transliteration	Kalla bal tukaththiboona bialddeeni
Literal	No but, rather you lie/deny/falsify with the religion.

Yusuf Ali	Day! nit ye do reject Right and Judgment!
Pickthal	Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.
Arberry	No indeed; but you cry lies to the Doom;
Shakir	Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day,
Sarwar	Despite this, you deny the Day of Judgment,
Khalifa	Indeed, you disbelieve in the religion.
Hilali/Khan	Nay! But you deny the Recompense (reward for good deeds and punishment for evil deeds).
H/K/Saheeh	No! But you deny the Recompense.
Malik	Nay! In fact you deny the Day of Judgment![9]
QXP	Nay, but you deny the Judgment and the Divine System of life. ('Deen' = Divine System = Final Judgment = Way of life = Erroneously, but frequently translated as religion).
Maulana Ali	Nay, but you give the lie to the Judgment,
Free Minds	No, you are but deniers of the system.
Qaribullah	Rather, you belied the Recompense.

George Sale	Assuredly. But ye deny the last judgement as a falsehood.
JM Rodwell	Even so; but ye treat the Judgment as a lie.

Asad	Nay, [O men,] but you [are lured away from God whenever you are tempted to] give the lie to [God's] Judgment!

al-Infitar 082:010

‏82:10 وان عليكم لحافظين

Transliteration	Wa-inna AAalaykum lahafitheena
Literal	And that truly (We are) on you protectors/observers (E) .

Yusuf Ali	But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,-
Pickthal	Lo! there are above you guardians,
Arberry	yet there are over you watchers
Shakir	And most surely there are keepers over you
Sarwar	but you should know that there are angelic guards
Khalifa	Oblivious to the fact that there are (invisible) keepers around you.
Hilali/Khan	But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you ,
H/K/Saheeh	And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
Malik	You should know that guardian angels have indeed been appointed over you,[10]
QXP	Behold, there are above you guardians ever-vigilant.
Maulana Ali	And surely there are keepers over you,
Free Minds	And over you are those who watch.
Qaribullah	Yet over you there are watchers,

George Sale	Verily there are appointed over you guardian angels,
JM Rodwell	Yet truly there are guardians over you-

Asad	And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you,

al-Infitar 082:011

‏82:11 كراما كاتبين

Transliteration	Kiraman katibeena
Literal	Honoured/generous , writing/ordering .

Yusuf Ali	Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds):
Pickthal	Generous and recording,
Arberry	noble, writers
Shakir	Honorable recorders,
Sarwar	watching over you
Khalifa	They are honest recorders.
Hilali/Khan	Kiraman (honourable) Katibeen writing down (your deeds) ,
H/K/Saheeh	Noble and recording;
Malik	who are noble writers,[11]
QXP	Noble, recording.
Maulana Ali	Honourable recorders,
Free Minds	Honourable scribes.
Qaribullah	noble scribes

George Sale	honourable in the sight of God, writing down your actions;
JM Rodwell	Illustrious recorders-

Asad	noble, recording,

al-Infitar 082:012

‏82:12 يعلمون ماتفعلون

Transliteration	YaAAlamoona ma tafAAaloona
Literal	They (the angels) know what you make/do .

Yusuf Ali	They know (and understand) all that ye do.
Pickthal	Who know (all) that ye do.
Arberry	who know whatever you do.
Shakir	They know what you do.
Sarwar	and these honorable scribes know whatever you do.
Khalifa	They record everything you do.
Hilali/Khan	They know all that you do.
H/K/Saheeh	They know whatever you do.
Malik	they know all that you do.[12]
QXP	They know whatever you do. (Verses 10, 11, 12, refer to the Divine Law of Requital).
Maulana Ali	They know what you do.
Free Minds	They know what you do.
Qaribullah	who know of all that you do.

George Sale	who know that which ye do.
JM Rodwell	Cognisant of your actions.

Asad	aware of whatever you do!

al-Infitar 082:013

‏82:13 ان الابرار لفي نعيم

Transliteration	Inna al-abrara lafee naAAeemin
Literal	That truly the righteous/charitable (are) in (E) blessing/goodness .

Yusuf Ali	As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss;
Pickthal	Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.
Arberry	Surely the pious shall be in bliss,
Shakir	Most surely the righteous are in bliss,
Sarwar	The virtuous ones will live in bliss
Khalifa	Surely, the pious have deserved bliss.
Hilali/Khan	Verily, the Abrar (pious and righteous) will be in delight (Paradise);
H/K/Saheeh	Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
Malik	On that Day the righteous will surely be in bliss;[13]
QXP	Behold, the virtuous who create room for others in the society, will be in Bliss.
Maulana Ali	Surely the righteous are in bliss,
Free Minds	The pious are in Paradise.
Qaribullah	Indeed, the righteous shall (live) in bliss.

George Sale	The just shall surely be in a place of delight:
JM Rodwell	Surely amid delights shall the righteous dwell,

Asad	Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous: will indeed be in bliss,

al-Infitar 082:014

‏82:14 وان الفجار لفي جحيم

Transliteration	Wa-inna alfujjara lafee jaheemin
Literal	And that truly the debauchers/corrupters (are) in (E) Hell .

Yusuf Ali	And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire,
Pickthal	And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;
Arberry	and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace
Shakir	And most surely the wicked are in burning fire,
Sarwar	and the evil-doers will be in hell
Khalifa	While the wicked have deserved Hell.
Hilali/Khan	And verily, the Fujjar (the wicked, disbelievers, sinners and evil-doers) will be in the blazing Fire (Hell),
H/K/Saheeh	And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
Malik	while the wicked will indeed go to hell,[14]
QXP	And behold, those who split humanity will face an Insurmountable Barrier.
Maulana Ali	And the wicked are truly in burning Fire --
Free Minds	And the wicked are in Hell.
Qaribullah	But the wicked, indeed they shall be in the Fiery Furnace,

George Sale	But the wicked shall surely be in hell;
JM Rodwell	But verily the impure in Hell-fire:

Asad	whereas, behold, the wicked will indeed be in a blazing fire -

al-Infitar 082:015

‏82:15 يصلونها يوم الدين

Transliteration	Yaslawnaha yawma alddeeni
Literal	They roast/suffer (from) it (in) the Judgment Day/Resurrection Day .

Yusuf Ali	Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment,
Pickthal	They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,
Arberry	roasting therein on the Day of Doom,
Shakir	They shall enter it on the day of judgment.
Sarwar	which they will enter on the Day of Judgment
Khalifa	Will incur it on the Day of Judgment.
Hilali/Khan	In which they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense,
H/K/Saheeh	They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
Malik	they shall enter it on the Day of Judgment,[15]
QXP	They will be visibly exposed to it on the Day of Judgment.
Maulana Ali	They will enter it on the day of Judgement,
Free Minds	They will enter it on the Day of recompense.
Qaribullah	roasting in it on the Day of Recompense

George Sale	they shall be cast therein to be burned, on the day of judgement,
JM Rodwell	They shall be burned at it on the day of doom,

Asad	[a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day,

al-Infitar 082:016

‏82:16 وماهم عنها بغائبين

Transliteration	Wama hum AAanha bigha-ibeena
Literal	And they are not from it with (being) absent/hidden .

Yusuf Ali	And they will not be able to keep away therefrom.
Pickthal	And will not be absent thence.
Arberry	nor shall they ever be absent from it.
Shakir	And they shall by no means be absent from it.
Sarwar	to burn therein.
Khalifa	They never leave it.
Hilali/Khan	And they (Al-Fujjar) will not be absent therefrom (i.e. will not go out from the Hell).
H/K/Saheeh	And never therefrom will they be absent.
Malik	and they shall not be able to escape from it.[16]
QXP	And will not be able to abscond from it (79:36).
Maulana Ali	And will not be absent from it.
Free Minds	And they will not be absent from it.
Qaribullah	and from it they shall never be absent.

George Sale	and they shall not be absent therefrom for ever.
JM Rodwell	And they shall not be able to hide themselves from it.

Asad	and which they shall not [be able to] evade.

al-Infitar 082:017

‏82:17 وماادراك مايوم الدين

Transliteration	Wama adraka ma yawmu alddeeni
Literal	And what made you know/informed you what (is) the Judgment Day/Resurrection Day ?

Yusuf Ali	And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?
Pickthal	Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Arberry	And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom?
Shakir	And what will make you realize what the day of judgement is?
Sarwar	They will never be able to escape from it. Would that you knew what the Day of Judgment is!
Khalifa	Awesome is the Day of Judgment.
Hilali/Khan	And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
H/K/Saheeh	And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
Malik	What will explain to you what the Day of Judgment is?[17]
QXP	And what will enlighten you about the Day of Judgment?
Maulana Ali	And what will make thee realize what the day of Judgment is?
Free Minds	And do you know what is the Day of recompense?
Qaribullah	What could let you know what the Day of Recompense is!

George Sale	What shall cause thee to understand what the day of judgement is?
JM Rodwell	Who shall teach thee what the day of doom is?

Asad	And what could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be?

al-Infitar 082:018

‏82:18 ثم ماادراك مايوم الدين

Transliteration	Thumma ma adraka ma yawmu alddeeni
Literal	Then what made you know/informed you what the Judgment Day/Resurrection Day (is)?

Yusuf Ali	Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?
Pickthal	Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Arberry	Again, what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom?
Shakir	Again, what will make you realize what the day of judgment Is?
Sarwar	Again would that you only knew how terrible it really is!
Khalifa	What a day; the Day of Judgment!
Hilali/Khan	Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
H/K/Saheeh	Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
Malik	Again, what will explain to you what the Day of Judgment is?[18]
QXP	Again, what will enlighten you about the Day of Judgment?
Maulana Ali	Again, what will make thee realize what the day of Judgment is?
Free Minds	Then again, do you know what is the Day of recompense?
Qaribullah	Again, what could let you know what the Day of Recompense is!

George Sale	Again, what shall cause thee to understand what the day of judgement is?
JM Rodwell	Once more. Who shall teach thee what the day of doom is?

Asad	And once again: What could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be?

al-Infitar 082:019

‏82:19 يوم لاتملك نفس لنفس شيئا والامر يومئذ لله

Transliteration	Yawma la tamliku nafsun linafsin shay-an waal-amru yawma-ithin lillahi
Literal	A day/time a self does not own/possess to a self a thing, and the matter/affair/order/command (on) that day (is) to God.

Yusuf Ali	(It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
Pickthal	A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.
Arberry	A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God.
Shakir	The day on which no soul shall control anything for (another) soul; and the command on that day shall be entirely Allah's.
Sarwar	On that day, no soul will be of any benefit to any other soul. On that day, all affairs will be in the hands of God.
Khalifa	That is the day when no soul can help another soul, and all decisions, on that day, will belong to GOD.
Hilali/Khan	(It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do) anything for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
H/K/Saheeh	It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.
Malik	It will be the Day when no one shall have the power to do anything for another: for, on that Day, Allah shall keep the entire command to Himself.[19]
QXP	That is the Day when no person will have the power to help another. For, on that Day (it will become obvious) that all Command belongs to Allah alone.
Maulana Ali	The day when no soul controls aught for another soul. And the command on that day is Allah’s.
Free Minds	The Day when no soul possesses anything for any other soul, and the decision on that Day is to God.
Qaribullah	It is the Day when no soul can do a thing for another soul. That Day, the command belongs to Allah.

George Sale	It is a day whereon one soul shall not be able to obtain any thing in behalf of another soul: And the command, on that day, shall be God's.
JM Rodwell	It is a day when one soul shall be powerless for another soul: all sovereignty on that day shall be with God.

Asad	[It will be] a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to another human being: for on that Day [it will become manifest that] all sovereignty is God's alone.

No soul can believe exept by the will of Allah
