| 84:1 سورة الانشقاق بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ اذا السماء انشقت |

| Literal | When/if the sky/space split/cracked . |

| 84:2 واذنت لربها وحقت |

| Transliteration | Waathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat |
| Literal | And listened/heard (obeyed) to its Lord, and became certain/fact/deserved . |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- |
| Pickthal | And attentive to her Lord in fear, |
| Arberry | and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; |
| Shakir | And obeys its Lord and it must. |
| Sarwar | in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, |
| Khalifa | It will submit to its Lord and expire. |
| Hilali/Khan | And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; |
| H/K/Saheeh | And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] |

| 84:4 والقت مافيها وتخلت |

| Transliteration | Waalqat ma feeha watakhallat |
| Literal | And it threw what (is) in it, and became free. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, |
| Pickthal | And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty |
| Arberry | and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, |
| Shakir | And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, |
| Sarwar | and throws out of itself all that it contains |
| Khalifa | It will eject its contents, as it erupts. |

| 84:5 واذنت لربها وحقت |

| 84:6 ياايها الانسان انك كادح الى ربك كدحا فملاقيه |

| Transliteration | Ya ayyuha al-insanu innaka kadihun ila rabbika kadhan famulaqeehi |
| Literal | You, you the human/mankind, that you truly are exerting/labouring/toiling to your Lord exertion/labour/toil, so you (are) receiving/meeting Him . |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. |
| Pickthal | Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). |
| Arberry | O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. |
| Shakir | O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. |
| Sarwar | Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). |
| Khalifa | O humans, you are irreversibly heading for a meeting with your Lord. |
| Hilali/Khan | O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). |
| H/K/Saheeh | O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. |
| Malik | , O mankind! Surely you must strive towards your Lord, a hard striving, then you shall meet Him.[6] |
| QXP | O Man! Behold, You have been toiling hard toward your Lord - painfully toiling - then you shall meet Him. |
| Maulana Ali | O man, thou must strive a hard striving (to attain) to thy Lord, until thou meet Him. |
| Free Minds | O man, you will be returning to your Lord with your actions and meeting Him. |
| Qaribullah | O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. |
| |
|
| George Sale | O man, verily labouring thou labourest to meet thy Lord, and thou shalt meet Him. |
| JM Rodwell | Then verily, O man, who desirest to reach thy Lord, shalt thou meet him. |

| Asad | [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! |
al-Inshiqaq 084:007
| 84:7 فاما من اوتي كتابه بيمينه |
| |

| Transliteration | Faama man ootiya kitabahu biyameenihi |
| Literal | So but who was given/brought his Book/judgment with his right (hand). |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, |
| Pickthal | Then whoso is given his account in his right hand |
| Arberry | Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, |
| Shakir | Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, |
| Sarwar | The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands |
| Khalifa | As for the one who receives his record in his right hand, |

| 84:8 فسوف يحاسب حسابا يسيرا |

| Transliteration | Fasawfa yuhasabu hisaban yaseeran |
| Literal | So he will be counted/calculated (with an) easy account/calculation . |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, |
| Pickthal | He truly will receive an easy reckoning |
| Arberry | he shall surely receive an easy reckoning |
| Shakir | He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, |
| Sarwar | will be easy,. |
| Khalifa | His reckoning will be easy. |

al-Inshiqaq 084:009
| 84:9 وينقلب الى اهله مسرورا |

| Transliteration | Wayanqalibu ila ahlihi masrooran |
| Literal | And he returns to his family/people delighted/happy. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! |
| Pickthal | And will return unto his folk in joy. |
| Arberry | and he will return to his family joyfully. |
| Shakir | And he shall go back to his people joyful. |
| Sarwar | and they will return to their people, delighted |
| Khalifa | He will return to his people joyfully. |
| Hilali/Khan | And will return to his family in joy! |
| H/K/Saheeh | And return to his people in happiness. |
| Malik | and shall return to his people rejoicing.[9] |

al-Inshiqaq 084:010
| 84:10 واما من اوتي كتابه وراء ظهره |

| Transliteration | Waamma man ootiya kitabahu waraa thahrihi |
| Literal | And but who was given/brought his Book/judgment behind his back . |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | But he who is given his Record behind his back,- |
| Pickthal | But whoso is given his account behind his back, |
| Arberry | But as for him who is given his book behind his back, |

| 84:11 فسوف يدعو ثبورا |
| |

| Transliteration | Fasawfa yadAAoo thubooran |
| Literal | So he will call (for) destruction and grief . |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Soon will he cry for perdition, |
| Pickthal | He surely will invoke destruction |
| Arberry | he shall call for destruction |
| Shakir | He shall call for perdition, |
| Sarwar | they will say, "Woe to us!". |
| Khalifa | He will be ridden with remorse. |
| Hilali/Khan | He will invoke (his) destruction, |

| 84:12 ويصلى سعيرا |
| |
|
| Transliteration | Wayasla saAAeeran |
| Literal | And he suffers/burns blazing/inflaming (punishment). |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | And he will enter a Blazing Fire. |
| Pickthal | And be thrown to scorching fire. |
| Arberry | and he shall roast at a Blaze. |
| Shakir | And enter into burning fire. |
| Sarwar | They will suffer the heat of hell fire. |
| Khalifa | And will burn in Hell. |
| Hilali/Khan | And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. |
| H/K/Saheeh | And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. |
| Malik | and shall be made to enter a blazing fire;[12] |
| QXP | And enter the Blazing Flame. |

| Free Minds | And he will enter a blazing Fire. |

al-Inshiqaq 084:013
| 84:13 انه كان في اهله مسرورا |
| |
|
| Transliteration | Innahu kana fee ahlihi masrooran |
| Literal | That he truly was in his family/people delighted/happy. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! |
| Pickthal | He verily lived joyous with his folk, |
| Arberry | He once lived among his family joyfully; |
| Shakir | Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. |
| Sarwar | They lived among their people joyfully |
| Khalifa | He used to act arrogantly among his people. |
| Hilali/Khan | Verily, he was among his people in joy! |
| H/K/Saheeh | Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; |
| Malik | for he used to live happily with his kinfolks[13] |
| QXP | Behold, he used to enjoy the company of his own kind. |

al-Inshiqaq 084:014
| 84:14 انه ظن ان لن يحور |

| Transliteration | Innahu thanna an lan yahoora |
| Literal | That he truly thought/assumed that (E) he will never/not return. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! |
| Pickthal | He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). |
| Arberry | he surely thought he would never revert. |
| Shakir | Surely he thought that he would never return. |
| Sarwar | and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. |
| Khalifa | He thought that he will never be called to account. |
| Hilali/Khan | Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! |
| H/K/Saheeh | Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. |
| Malik | and thought that he would never return to Allah for accountability.[14] |
| QXP | For, behold, he deemed that life would never quit revolving like this. |
| Maulana Ali | Surely he thought that he would never return (to Allah) -- |
| Free Minds | He thought he would not be returned. |
| Qaribullah | and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). |

| George Sale | Verily he thought that he should never return unto God: |

| Asad | for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. |
al-Inshiqaq 084:015
| 84:15 بلى ان ربه كان به بصيرا |

| Transliteration | Bala inna rabbahu kana bihi baseeran |
| Literal | Yes/certainly, that truly his Lord was seeing/knowing with (of) him. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! |
| Pickthal | Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! |
| Arberry | Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. |
| Shakir | Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. |
| Sarwar | This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). |
| Khalifa | Yes indeed, his Lord was Seer of him. |
| Hilali/Khan | Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! |
| H/K/Saheeh | But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. |
| Malik | Yet, surely his Lord was ever watching.[15] |
| QXP | Nay, but behold, his Lord did see all his mettle. ('Bihi' = In him = His true worth = His mettle). |
| Maulana Ali | Yea, surely his Lord is ever Seer of him. |
| Free Minds | No, He is ever seeing of him. |
| Qaribullah | Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. |

| George Sale | Yea verily; but his Lord beheld him. |

al-Inshiqaq 084:016
| 84:16 فلا اقسم بالشفق |

| Transliteration | Fala oqsimu bialshshafaqi |
| Literal | So I do not swear/make oath with the twilight . |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; |
| Pickthal | Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, |
| Arberry | No! I swear by the twilight |
| Shakir | But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, |
| Sarwar | I do not need to swear by the sunset, |
| Khalifa | I solemnly swear by the rosy dusk. |
| Hilali/Khan | So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; |
| H/K/Saheeh | So I swear by the twilight glow |
| Malik | I swear by the glow of sunset;[16] |
| QXP | Oh, I call to witness the Rosy Afterglow of sunset. |
| Maulana Ali | But nay, I call to witness the sunset redness, |
| Free Minds | So, I swear by the redness of dusk. |
| Qaribullah | I swear by the twilight; |

| George Sale | Wherefore I swear by the redness of the sky after sun-set, |

| 84:17 والليل وماوسق |

| Transliteration | Waallayli wama wasaqa |
| Literal | And the night, and what carried/gathered/loaded. |

|
| Yusuf Ali | The Night and its Homing; |
| Pickthal | And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, |
| Arberry | and the night and what it envelops |
| Shakir | And the night and that which it drives on, |
| Sarwar | or by the night in which things all come together to rest, |
| Khalifa | And the night as it spreads. |
| Hilali/Khan | And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; |
| H/K/Saheeh | And [by] the night and what it envelops |
| Malik | by the night and all that it gathers together;[17] |

| 84:18 والقمر اذا اتسق |

| Transliteration | Waalqamari itha ittasaqa |
| Literal | And the moon when/if it organized/evened/gathered . |
| |

| Yusuf Ali | And the Moon in her fullness: |
| Pickthal | And by the moon when she is at the full, |
| Arberry | and the moon when it is at the full, |
| Shakir | And the moon when it grows full, |
| Sarwar | or by the moon when it is full, |
| Khalifa | And the moon and its phases. |
| Hilali/Khan | And by the moon when it is at the full, |
| H/K/Saheeh | And [by] the moon when it becomes full |
| Malik | by the moon, when she grows full:[18] |

al-Inshiqaq 084:019
| 84:19 لتركبن طبقا عن طبق |
| |
|
| Transliteration | Latarkabunna tabaqan AAan tabaqin |
| Literal | You will ride/embark (E) a stage/layer/cover from/of/on a stage/layer/cover (they move from one state to another i.e. birth to death). |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. |
| Pickthal | That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. |
| Arberry | you shall surely ride stage after stage. |
| Shakir | That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. |
| Sarwar | that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. |
| Khalifa | You will move from stage to stage |
| Hilali/Khan | You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). |
| H/K/Saheeh | [That] you will surely experience state after state. |
| Malik | that you shall gradually pass from one stage to another.[19] |
| QXP | That you will traverse higher and higher from one plane to another. (Civilizations will keep advancing in sciences, and individuals will always have a chance to grow in goodness. Furthermore, evolution of the 'Self' will carry on in the life to come). |
| Maulana Ali | That you shall certainly ascend to one state after another. |
| Free Minds | You will ride a vessel upon a vessel. |
| Qaribullah | that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. |
| |
|
| George Sale | ye shall surely be transferred successively from state to state. |
| JM Rodwell | That from state to state shall ye be surely carried onward. |
| |

| Asad | [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. |
al-Inshiqaq 084:020
| 84:20 فمالهم لايؤمنون |
| |
|
| Transliteration | Fama lahum la yu/minoona |
| Literal | So why (is it) for them, they do not believe? |
| |
|

| 84:21 واذا قرئ عليهم القران لايسجدون |

| Literal | And when/if the Koran is read on them they, they do not prostrate? |

| Yusuf Ali | And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, |
| Pickthal | And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? |
| Arberry | and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? |
| Shakir | And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? |
| Sarwar | Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves?. |
| Khalifa | And when the Quran is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate. |

| 84:22 بل الذين كفروا يكذبون |

| Transliteration | Bali allatheena kafaroo yukaththiboona |
| Literal | But those who disbelieved they lie/deny/falsify. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). |
| Pickthal | Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; |
| Arberry | Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, |
| Shakir | Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. |
| Sarwar | In fact, they reject the Quran, |
| Khalifa | This is because those who disbelieved are rejecting (the Quran). |
| Hilali/Khan | Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). |
| H/K/Saheeh | But those who have disbelieved deny, |
| Malik | Nay! The unbelievers will deny;[22] |
| QXP | Nay, but the rejecters belie. |
| Maulana Ali | Nay, those who disbelieve give the lie -- |
| Free Minds | No, those who have rejected are in denial. |
| Qaribullah | No, the unbelievers only belie, |
| |
|
| George Sale | Yea: The unbelievers accuse the same of imposture: |
| JM Rodwell | Yea, the unbelievers treat it as a lie. |

| Asad | Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! |
al-Inshiqaq 084:023
| 84:23 والله اعلم بما يوعون |
| |
|
| Transliteration | WaAllahu aAAlamu bima yooAAoona |
| Literal | And God (is) more knowing with what they comprehend/perceive/accept . |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) |
| Pickthal | And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. |
| Arberry | and God knows very well what they are secreting. |
| Shakir | And Allah knows best what they hide, |
| Sarwar | but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. |
| Khalifa | GOD is fully aware of their innermost thoughts. |
| Hilali/Khan | And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), |
| H/K/Saheeh | And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. |
| Malik | and Allah knows what they are hiding in their hearts.[23] |
| QXP | And Allah is best Knower of what they hide. (Their idols, peer pressure, traditions, malice, schemes, vested interests). |
| Maulana Ali | And Allah knows best what they hide. |
| Free Minds | And God is more aware of what they gather. |
| Qaribullah | and Allah knows very well what they gather. |

| George Sale | But God well knoweth the malice which they keep hidden in their breasts. |
| JM Rodwell | But God knoweth their secret hatreds: |

| Asad | Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. |
al-Inshiqaq 084:024
| 84:24 فبشرهم بعذاب اليم |

| Transliteration | Fabashshirhum biAAathabin aleemin |
| Literal | So announce good news to them with (of) a painful torture. |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, |
| Pickthal | So give them tidings of a painful doom, |
| Arberry | So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, |
| Shakir | So announce to them a painful punishment~ |
| Sarwar | (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment |
| Khalifa | Promise them painful retribution. |
| Hilali/Khan | So announce to them a painful torment. |

| 84:25 الا الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات لهم اجر غير ممنون |

| Transliteration | Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum ajrun ghayru mamnoonin |
| Literal | Except those who believed and made/did the correct/righteous deeds, for them (is) a reward not obligated/interrupted |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. |
| Pickthal | Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. |
| Arberry | except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. |
| Shakir | Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. |
| Sarwar | except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. |
| Khalifa | As for those who believed and led a righteous life, they receive a recompense that is well-deserved. |

| Malik | except those who embrace the true faith and do good deeds; for them there will be a never ending reward.[25] |
| QXP | Except to those who choose to be graced with belief and do acts that help people - for them is a reward unending. |
| Maulana Ali | Except those who believe and do good -- for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. |
| Free Minds | Except for those who believe and do good works, they will have a reward that will not end. |
| Qaribullah | except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. |

| George Sale | except those who believe and do good works: For them is prepared a never failing reward. |
| JM Rodwell | Save to those who believe and do the things that be right. An unfailing recompense shall be theirs. |
