69:3 وماادراك ماالحاقة |

Transliteration | Wama adraka ma alhaqqatu |
Literal | And what makes you know what (is) the disaster/catastrophe/reality ? |

Yusuf Ali | And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? |
Pickthal | Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! |
Arberry | And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? |
Shakir | And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! |

69:4 كذبت ثمود وعاد بالقارعة |

Transliteration | Kaththabat thamoodu waAAadun bialqariAAati |
Literal | Thamud and Aad lied/denied/falsified with the Resurrection/disaster/calamity . |

Yusuf Ali | The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! |

69:5 فاما ثمود فاهلكوا بالطاغية |

Transliteration | Faamma thamoodu faohlikoo bialttaghiyati |
Literal | So but (for) Thamud , so they were made to die/destroyed with a wind blowing/frosty (and) violent . |

Yusuf Ali | But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! |
Pickthal | As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. |
Arberry | As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; |

Transliteration | Sakhkharaha AAalayhim sabAAa layalin wathamaniyata ayyamin husooman fatara alqawma feeha sarAAa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin khawiyatun |
Literal | He manipulated/subjugated it on them seven nights and eight days ominously/severing goodness (uprooting), so you see the nation in it lying flat/mad, as if they are palm tree's fallen/destroyed ends. |

Yusuf Ali | He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! |

Literal | So do you see for them from a remainder/remnant? |

69:9 وجاء فرعون ومن قبله والمؤتفكات بالخاطئة |

Transliteration | Wajaa firAAawnu waman qablahu waalmu/tafikatu bialkhati-ati |
Literal | And Pharaoh came, and who (is) before him, and the overturned/destroyed cities with the sin . |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. |
Pickthal | And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, |
Arberry | Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, |
Shakir | And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. |
Sarwar | The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. |
Khalifa | Pharaoh, others before him, and the sinners (of Sodom) were wicked. |

69:10 فعصوا رسول ربهم فاخذهم اخذة رابية |

Transliteration | FaAAasaw rasoola rabbihim faakhathahum akhthatan rabiyatan |
Literal | So they disobeyed their Lord's messenger, so He punished them an increased spellbinding (devastating) punishment . |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. |
Pickthal | And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. |
Arberry | and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. |
Shakir | And they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. |
Sarwar | They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. |
Khalifa | They disobeyed the messenger of their Lord. Consequently, He requited them a devastating requital. |

69:11 انا لما طغى الماء حملناكم في الجارية |

Transliteration | Inna lamma tagha almao hamalnakum fee aljariyati |
Literal | We (E) when the water became elevated (over flowed)/violent , We carried/lifted you in the ship/flowing . |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), |
Pickthal | Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship |
Arberry | Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship |
Shakir | Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, |
Sarwar | When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. |
Khalifa | The flood was devastating, so we carried you on the floating (ark). |
Hilali/Khan | Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits (Noohs (Noah) Flood), We carried you (mankind) in the floating (ship that was constructed by Nooh (Noah)). |

Malik | Just consider the great flood of Noah, when the water rose high, We carried you (O mankind) in the floating Ark,[11] |

Maulana Ali | Surely We carried you in the ship, when the water rose high, |

69:12 لنجعلها لكم تذكرة وتعيها اذن واعية |

Transliteration | LinajAAalaha lakum tathkiratan wataAAiyaha othunun waAAiyatun |
Literal | To make/put it for you (as) a reminder, and comprehending/perceiving ears accept/understand it . |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. |
Pickthal | That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. |
Arberry | that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. |
Shakir | So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. |
Sarwar | as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. |
Khalifa | We rendered it a lesson for you, that any listening ear may understand. |

69:13 فاذا نفخ في الصور نفخة واحدة |

Transliteration | Fa-itha nufikha fee alssoori nafkhatun wahidatun |
Literal | So when (it) was blown in the horn/bugle/instrument, one blow. |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, |
Pickthal | And when the trumpet shall sound one blast |
Arberry | So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast |
Shakir | And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, |
Sarwar | With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, |

69:14 وحملت الارض والجبال فدكتا دكة واحدة |

Transliteration | Wahumilati al-ardu waaljibalu fadukkata dakkatan wahidatan |
Literal | And the earth/Planet Earth and the mountains were carried/lifted , so they (B) were leveled/flattened one crunch/destruction . |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- |
Pickthal | And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, |
Arberry | and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, |
Shakir | And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. |
Sarwar | the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. |
Khalifa | The earth and the mountains will be carried off and crushed; utterly crushed. |

al-Haqqah 069:015
69:15 فيومئذ وقعت الواقعة |

Literal | So that day, the Resurrection/Event landed/happened . |

Yusuf Ali | On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. |
Pickthal | Then, on that day will the Event befall. |
Arberry | then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, |
Shakir | On that day shall the great event come to pass, |
Sarwar | On that day, the inevitable event will take place |
Khalifa | That is the day when the inevitable event will come to pass. |

69:16 وانشقت السماء فهي يومئذ واهية |

Transliteration | Wainshaqqati alssamao fahiya yawma-ithin wahiyatun |
Literal | And the sky/space split away/cut open , so it is (on) that day cracked/weak . |
|
|
Yusuf Ali | And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, |
Pickthal | And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. |
Arberry | and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, |
Shakir | And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, |
Sarwar | and the heavens will be rent asunder, and will turn frail, losing all force. |
Khalifa | The heaven will crack, and fall apart. |
Hilali/Khan | And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, |

69:17 والملك على ارجائها ويحمل عرش ربك فوقهم يومئذ ثمانية |

Transliteration | Waalmalaku AAala arja-iha wayahmilu AAarsha rabbika fawqahum yawma-ithin thamaniyatun |
Literal | And the angels (are) on its boundaries/vastness , and that day eight carries/lifts your Lord's throne above them . |

|
Yusuf Ali | And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. |
Pickthal | And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. |
Arberry | and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. |
Shakir | And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above ) I them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. |
Sarwar | The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. |

Yusuf Ali | Nor could any of you withhold him (from Our wrath). |
Pickthal | And not one of you could have held Us off from him. |
Arberry | and not one of you could have defended him. |
Shakir | And not one of you could have withheld Us from him. |
Sarwar | None of you would be able to prevent Us from doing this to him. |
Khalifa | None of you could have helped him. |

69:48 وانه لتذكرة للمتقين |

Transliteration | Wa-innahu latathkiratun lilmuttaqeena |
Literal | And that it truly is a reminder for the fearing and obeying. |

Yusuf Ali | But verily this is a Message for the Allah-fearing. |
Pickthal | And lo! it is a warrant unto those who ward off (evil). |
Arberry | Surely it is a Reminder to the godfearing; |
Shakir | And most surely it is a reminder for those who guard (against evil). |
Sarwar | The Quran is certainly a reminder for the pious ones. |
Khalifa | This is a reminder for the righteous. |
Hilali/Khan | And verily, this Quran is a Reminder for the Muttaqoon (pious - see V.2:2). |
H/K/Saheeh | And indeed, the Qurâ an is a reminder for the righteous. |
Malik | Surely this Qur’an is a reminder to the Godfearing.[48] |
QXP | But, verily, it is a Reminder and a giver of eminence to those who wish to walk aright. |
Maulana Ali | And surely it is a Reminder for the dutiful. |

Qaribullah | Indeed, it is a Reminder to those who fear Allah, |

al-Haqqah 069:049
69:49 وانا لنعلم ان منكم مكذبين |

Transliteration | Wa-inna lanaAAlamu anna minkum mukaththibeena |
Literal | And We (E), We know (E) that (E) from you (are) liars/deniers/falsifiers. |

Yusuf Ali | And We certainly know that there are amongst you those that reject (it). |
Pickthal | And lo! We know that some among you will deny (it). |
Arberry | but We know that some of you will cry lies. |
Shakir | And most surely We know that some of you are rejecters. |
Sarwar | We certainly know that some of you have rejected it |
Khalifa | We know; some of you are rejectors. |

69:50 وانه لحسرة على الكافرين |

Transliteration | Wa-innahu lahasratun AAala alkafireena |
Literal | And that it truly is grief/sadness (E) , on the disbelievers. |

Yusuf Ali | But truly (Revelation) is a cause of sorrow for the Unbelievers. |
Pickthal | And lo! it is indeed an anguish for the disbelievers. |
Arberry | Surely it is a sorrow to the unbelievers; |
Shakir | And most surely it is a great grief to the unbelievers. |
Sarwar | and (on the Day of Judgment) this will be a great source of regret for the unbelievers. |
Khalifa | It is but sorrow for the disbelievers. |
Hilali/Khan | And indeed it (this Quran) will be an anguish for the disbelievers (on the Day of Resurrection). |
H/K/Saheeh | And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers. |
Malik | and for such disbelievers it is indeed a cause of despair.[50] |
QXP | And behold, this denial will become a source of regret for the rejecters. |
Maulana Ali | And it is indeed a (source of) grief to the disbelievers. |

Qaribullah | Indeed, it is a sorrow to the unbelievers |

69:51 وانه لحق اليقين |

Literal | And that it truly is true/real (E) the assurance/certainty. |

Yusuf Ali | But verily it is Truth of assured certainty. |
Pickthal | And lo! it is absolute truth. |
Arberry | yet indeed it is the truth of certainty. |
Shakir | And most surely it is the true certainty |
